Ted Cruz (R-TX) responded to a rant from left-wing late night host Stephen Colbert \u2014 who suggested that the U.S. should change gun laws in the aftermath of Kyle Rittenhouse\u2019s not guilty verdict \u2014 warning that \u201crich Democrats&nbsp;<span class>believe you have no right to defend yourself.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class>During Monday\u2019s monologue, Colbert briefly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2021\/11\/23\/stephen-colbert-if-kyle-rittenhouse-didnt-break-the-law-we-should-change-the-law\/\">addressed<\/a> the murder trial of 18-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse, who was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/law-and-order\/2021\/11\/19\/verdict-kyle-rittenhouse-found-not-guilty-on-all-charges\/\">found not guilty<\/a> of all charges lodged against him.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe big news on Friday was that after being accused of crossing state lines, killing two people and wounding another last year during a Black Lives Matter protest, Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted on all counts,\u201d Colbert began.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOk. Cards on the table, I am not a legal expert so I can\u2019t tell you whether or not Kyle Rittenhouse broke the law. But I can tell you this, if he didn\u2019t break the law we should change the law,\u201d he continued, triggering a round of applause. \u201cThat seems simple. It never had anything to do with race. It had to do with the right to self-defense,\u201d Rittenhouse told Tucker Carlson during an interview that aired on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought they came to the correct verdict because it wasn\u2019t Kyle Rittenhouse on trial in Wisconsin \u2014 it was the right to self-defense on trial,\u201d he explained. \u201cAnd if I was convicted\u2026 no one would ever be privileged to defend their life against attackers.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sen.
