MRC said the studio was forced to quickly write Spacey\u2019s character out of the show and shut down production<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMRC stood its ground, pursued this case doggedly, and obtained the right result in the end,\u201d the studio\u2019s lawyer, Michael Kump,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/11\/22\/kevin-spacey-ordered-to-pay-netflix-show-studio-over-misconduct.html\">said<\/a> in a statement to CNBC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe safety of our employees, sets and work environments is of paramount importance to MRC and why we set out to push for accountability,\u201d MRC added.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2019, Spacey, whose real name is Kevin Spacey Fowler, settled a lawsuit filed by a now-deceased man who accused the actor of sexual assault,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/thr-esq\/kevin-spacey-settles-sexual-assault-lawsuit-accusers-death-1265368\">according<\/a>&nbsp;to The Hollywood Reporter.&nbsp;The man, a massage therapist known only as \u201cJohn Doe,\u201d accused the \u201cUsual Suspects\u201d actor of forcing him to grab his genitals twice during a massage session in Malibu.<\/p>\n<p>No terms of the deal were made public, The Hollywood Reporter said, adding, \u201cAttorneys for Spacey and the special administrator filed a stipulation to dismiss the case with prejudice (meaning claims can\u2019t be refiled).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also in December 2019, Spacey took to social media to post a \u201cFrank Underwood\u201d-type video, channeling his \u201cHouse of Cards\u201d character.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou didn\u2019t really think I was going to miss the opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas, did you?\u201d Spacey told viewers in a video titled \u201cKTWK.\u201d&nbsp;\u201cIt\u2019s been a pretty good year, and I\u2019m grateful to have my health back.
