Hamdok said he accepted the deal proffered on Sunday to avoid further bloodshed:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"16\">\n<p><span>\u201cSudanese blood is precious, let us stop the bloodshed and direct the youth\u2019s energy into building and development,\u201d Hamdok said on Sunday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The country\u2019s top military leader, General Abdel Fattah Burhan, thanked Hamdok for his service and said the prime minister \u201cwas patient with us until we reached this moment.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The 14-point deal also includes a pledge from the military that all political detainees would be released.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Hamdok has been <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2021\/10\/25\/sudans-abdalla-hamdok-under-arrest-report\"><span>under house arrest<\/span><\/a><span> since the coup on October 25. (AFP via Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>Military forces met a march on the presidential palace in Khartoum on Sunday with rubber bullets and tear gas and did the same to large demonstrations in the cities of Omdurman and Bahri. At least one teenage protester in Omdurman was <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/africa\/sudan-military-reinstate-ousted-pm-hamdok-after-deal-reached-umma-party-head-2021-11-21\/\"><span>reportedly<\/span><\/a><span> killed.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe affirm our clear and previously declared position that there is no negotiation, no partnership, no legitimacy for the coup. We are not concerned with any agreements with this brute junta and we are employing all peaceful and creative methods to bring it down,\u201d declared an influential activist group called the Forces for the Declaration of Freedom and Change.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Other opponents of the junta accused Hamdok of \u201cselling out the revolution\u201d and letting his supporters down by cutting a deal with coup leaders. (AFP via Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>The Central Committee of Sudan Doctors (CCSD) <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/allafrica.com\/stories\/202111210039.html\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span> on Sunday there have been at least 40 fatalities since October 25. 16 of them occurred on November 17, the bloodiest day of the coup.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The report condemned November 17 as a \u201cmassacre by security forces\u201d and dismissed claims by security officials that \u201cpolice used minimal force and tear gas, and never used a firearm\u201d against demonstrators.
