A&nbsp;\u201cninth Dan Black belt\u201d is awarded to a Taekwondo practitioner who has attained the highest level of ability in the sport.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Former US president received a Taekwondo 9th Dan from the Kukkiwon president\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AHEoW2VZbbo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI heard that the Donald Trump is highly interested in Taekwondo [<em>sic<\/em>],\u201d Lee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=AHEoW2VZbbo\">told<\/a> reporters at the ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>The martial arts representative said he requested&nbsp;Trump\u2019s \u201ccontinuous support and cooperation for Taekwondo and Kukkiwon\u201d during their meeting. Trump received the Kukkiwon delegation after&nbsp;\u201ca South Korean resident in the United States served as a bridge to enable their meetup,\u201d&nbsp;the&nbsp;<em>Dong-a Ilbo <\/em>revealed.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIt is my pleasure and honor to receive this honorary certificate. Taekwondo is a great martial art for protecting oneself in these times (when COVID-19 prevails),\u201d Trump told reporters on Saturday, referring to the ongoing Chinese coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, who served as the 45th president of the United States for a single term from January 2017 to January 2021, is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/trump-annoyed-desantis-wont-rule-out-rival-2024-bid-report-2021-11\">rumored<\/a> to possibly seek election to the office a second time in 2024. He alluded to this speculation on November 20, saying he \u201cwill wear the taekwondo suit in the U.S. Congress if he makes it back to the White House,\u201d according to the&nbsp;<em>Dong-a Ilbo<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe former president also invited the Kukkiwon Taekwondo demonstration team to the United States,\u201d the conservative South Korean newspaper observed.<\/p>\n<p>South Korea\u2019s federal government <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kukkiwon.or.kr\/front\/eng\/main2.action\">established<\/a> Kukkiwon as the official governing body for taekwondo, a martial art developed on the Korean Peninsula sometime between the 1940s and 1950s. Kukkiwon is located in Seoul, South Korea\u2019s national capital, where it also hosts the World Taekwondo Academy.
