(Photo by Clive Brunskill\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>But days later, when CNN finally started reporting on the issue, the government quickly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/uncategorized\/watch-china-censors-cnn-live-feed-during-report-on-tennis-star-who-accused-government-official-of-sexual-assault\/\" target=\" _blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shut down<\/a>&nbsp;CNN\u2019s feed, according to Mediaite.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>As soon as the <em>New Day<\/em> segment mentioned Shuai, the picture disappeared, and a message in Chinese appeared reading, \u201cNo signal, please stand by.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CNN quickly discovered that its feed in China had disappeared. Morning show co-host John Berman told American viewers that CNN had been taken off the air in China and showed an inset image of the blank feed being seen by Chinese viewers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnderneath your face,\u201d Berman said, \u201c[viewers] can see a box which is the actual live feed of this broadcast in China. But it\u2019s all color bars. And it went to color bars the minute you started talking. So what\u2019s going on here?\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"7.4139344262295\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">CNN is censored in real time in China as they report on a Chinese tennis star who has accused a top communist official of sexual assault and since virtually disappeared. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/s85VmtA3Pp\">pic.twitter.com\/s85VmtA3Pp<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Clay Travis (@ClayTravis) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ClayTravis\/status\/1462796066500362244?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 22, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Taiwan-based correspondent Will Ripley said that it is just another example of China shutting CNN off as the network reports on something that China\u2019s communist leaders did not want their people to see.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey scrubbed Peng Shuai from the internet. They\u2019re certainly not talking about this on television. And even international networks,\u201d Ripley said. \u201cThey have an army of censors waiting to push that button the minute we start talking about this story. But it is not making this story go away.
