We know that inflation is up. We also know that profit margins are up, with the biggest U.S. companies raking in the biggest profit margins since 2019,\u201d Fink replied, pivoting almost immediately to suggest that profiteering and price-gouging could be at the root of some of the inflated prices Americans were paying.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo the Biden administration you will see focused on where there are those \u2014 the lack of competition in the marketplace. Things like meat processing. That\u2019s why the prices of poultry and beef and pork are up. It\u2019s because there\u2019s a bottleneck and a lack of competition with those processors,\u201d Fink continued. \u201cSo really addressing that and making the American public aware that often it\u2019s the companies that are raking in that dollar and they\u2019re making money significantly above and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs it pandemic profiteering? That\u2019s the question the Biden administration will be asking corporate America and Americans,\u201d Fink concluded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt sounds like a speech that the communist leader of China just gave two months ago against corporations over there,\u201d Payne quipped as he moved to bring another panelist into the conversation, but Fink balked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExcuse me?\u201d she exclaimed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShould we go to war with American businesses in this period? Should we be blaming them?\u201d Payne asked, but Fink continued to object.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShould we profiteer?
