The officials <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wvtreasury.com\/Portals\/wvtreasury\/Fossil%20Fuel%20Banking%20Letter%20Nov%2022.pdf\">wrote a letter<\/a> to banking industry leaders Monday, warning that they would begin considering institutions\u2019 boycotts of fossil fuel companies before awarding state contracts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReckless attacks on law-abiding energy companies cut off paychecks for workers and take food off the tables of hard-working families,\u201d Moore and the other officials wrote. \u201cThe Biden Administration has resumed these attacks by attempting to ban energy exploration on public lands and reportedly pressuring U.S. banks and financial institutions to limit, encumber, or outright refuse financing for traditional energy production companies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese misguided political schemes have impeded economic growth, driven up consumer costs, and regressed our country to foreign energy dependence,\u201d the letter continued. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/19\/energy-independence-united-states-joe-biden-american-petroleum-institute\/\">(RELATED: America Is Becoming More Dependent On Foreign Oil Under Biden)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The fossil fuel industry provides jobs, health insurance, infrastructure and quality of life to Americans nationwide, they added.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"9.7563739376771\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Treasurer Moore has formed a coalition of state financial officers who have committed to scrutinize or potentially curtail future business with banks that adopt corporate policies to cut off financing for the coal, oil &amp; natural gas industries.<br \/>Read more: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/oYAMiAHIUY\">https:\/\/t.co\/oYAMiAHIUY<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/FHl0BEFBcL\">pic.twitter.com\/FHl0BEFBcL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 WVTreasury (@WVTreasury) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WVTreasury\/status\/1462821744863899652?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 22, 2021<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Since taking office, President Joe Biden has <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/17\/joe-biden-keystone-xl-pipeline-montana\/\">blocked<\/a>&nbsp;major pipelines,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/20\/joe-biden-administration-interior-department-alaska-oil-drilling-energy-prices\/\">ditched<\/a> oil drilling projects, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/02\/joe-biden-environmental-protection-agency-methane-emissions-oil-gas-industry\/\">introduced<\/a> sweeping regulations and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/15\/jeff-landry-joe-biden-louisiana\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">banned<\/a> new oil and gas leases on federal lands. His administration is also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/build-back-better\/\">pushing<\/a> the Build Back Better Act, the budget bill <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/19\/house-sends-bidens-spending-package-senate-build-back-better\/\">passed<\/a> by the House last week that includes several green energy handouts and a tax on methane emissions.<\/p>\n<p>In August, the Treasury Department <a href=\"https:\/\/home.treasury.gov\/faq-for-new-fossil-fuel-energy-guidance-for-the-multilateral-development-banks\">issued guidance<\/a> saying the U.S. would oppose multilateral development banks\u2019 involvement in future fossil fuel projects, a move <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nrdc.org\/experts\/jake-schmidt\/us-will-oppose-fossil-fuel-projects-development-banks\">applauded<\/a> by environmental activists. Moore and the other financial officers said the move would cede future development \u201cChinese interests.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWoke capitalists and globalist actors have been using the guise of climate change to press for anti-American reforms that reduce our country\u2019s competitiveness against hostile nations like Russia and China,\u201d Moore said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a result, in less than a year our country has gone from energy independence to having a President who is begging OPEC and Russia to pump more oil,\u201d he continued. \u201cIt\u2019s time we fight back to protect our economies, jobs, tax revenue and energy independence from these increasing attacks on our critical industries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Major financial institutions, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpmorganchase.com\/about\/governance\/esg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">JPMorgan Chase<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citigroup.com\/citi\/about\/esg\/\">Citi Bank<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/about.bankofamerica.com\/en\/making-an-impact\/esg-reporting\">Bank of America<\/a>, have committed to environmental and sustainability goals that involve divestment from fossil fuel companies.<\/p>\n<p>Top financial officers in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah and Wyoming signed the letter.<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
