She claimed that because Rittenhouse had brought the gun to the scene it was reasonable for others to chase him or attempt to disarm him under the assumption that he was an \u201cactive shooter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Whoopi Goldberg began the show with a clip from Rittenhouse\u2019s interview with Fox News host <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/kyle-rittenhouse-tucker-carlson-first-interview-after-acquittal\">Tucker Carlson<\/a>, during which Rittenhouse claimed that the case had never been about race.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis case has nothing to do with race, it never had anything to do with race, it had to do with the right to self-defense,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/wendy-rittenhouse-interview-family-reveals-new-legal-action-theyre-exploring-mom-talks-kyles-new-chapter\/\">Rittenhouse<\/a> said as Carlson nodded along. \u201cI\u2019m not a racist person. I supported the BLM movement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen why did he go there with a gun?\u201d co-host Joy Behar interrupted, and Goldberg agreed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDefinitely a story that\u2019s going to be very divisive,\u201d guest host Kristen Soltis Anderson added, noting that even as Americans were drawing hard lines and taking sides, many had not necessarily seen all of the facts before doing so.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are many Americans who have been probably watching bits and pieces on the news,\u201d she said, adding, \u201cThe only people who got all the facts, in this case, were the jury and they didn\u2019t come to a rushed decision. They spent days deliberating on this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are a thousand reasons why Kyle Rittenhouse shouldn\u2019t have been where he was,\u201d Haines said, but then she went on to note that once he was there, video and witness testimony showed that he had been surrounded by people who did not appear to have peaceful protest as their goal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was where there were parts of rioting and bad-faith actors like Rosenbaum who I\u2019m not saying deserves to be dead. But I\u2019m a little shocked how everyone jumped to a certain story when you read into it there were different facts \u2026 this was a pretty cut and dry case of self-defense in Wisconsin.
