Greg Abbott, O\u2019Rourke, and McConaughey, Abbott holds the edge with 37 percent support, followed by McConaughey (27 percent) and O\u2019Rourke (26 percent). However, respondents said they would be more likely to support McConaughey over Abbott in a head to head matchup, 43 percent to 35 percent. Yet, Abbott leads O\u2019Rourke in a similar matchup, 45 percent to 39 percent.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<div id=\"attachment_18857466\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\" readability=\"32\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/GettyImages-841640900.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18857466\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/GettyImages-841640900.jpg\" alt width=\"1920\" height=\"1280\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>(Drew Anthony Smith\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Ultimately, a plurality, 40 percent, said they want the <em>Dazed and Confused<\/em> star to run for governor in the Lone Star State, while one-third said no.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The survey, taken November 9-16, 2021, among 1,106 registered voters, has a margin of error of +\/- 2.9 percent.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>McConaughey has continued to tease a gubernatorial bid over the past few months. Look, it\u2019s going to be in some capacity. \u2026 I just \u2014 I\u2019m more of a folksy and philosopher poet statesman than I am a, per se, definitive politician,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2021\/09\/23\/matthew-mcconaughey-confirms-hes-consideration-for-political-office-im-measuring-it\/\">said<\/a>.&nbsp;\u201cSo I go, well, that\u2019s a reason not to, but then I go, no, that\u2019s exactly why you should, because politics needs redefinition, but I\u2019m measuring, you know, what is my category? What\u2019s my embassy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The actor recently came under fire from the left after suggesting that he \u201ccouldn\u2019t mandate having to vaccinate the younger kids\u201d during an appearance at the <i>New York Times<\/i> DealBook summit. He later took to Instagram to clarify his remarks, telling his 5.8 million followers that he is not against vaccinating all children.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is NOT true, and insinuated by click bait headlines since, is that I am against vaccinating kids at all,\u201d he wrote. \u201cThis is false. In fact, our eldest 13 year old son Levi is full vaccinated for COVID 19.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last month, McConaughey <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2021\/10\/08\/matthew-mcconaughey-bashes-texas-heartbeat-law-praises-beto-orourke\/\">bashed<\/a> the Texas heartbeat law, prohibiting abortions on babies after a fetal heartbeat is detected, and praised his potential challenger, O\u2019Rourke, calling him a \u201cgood man\u201d who has the \u201cright kind of compassion that a liberal-sided politician needs and is necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cWould you be likely to support Matthew McConaughey more than Beto O\u2019Rourke?\u201d the survey asked respondents, who chose the Dallas Buyers Club star by double digits.
