His anger also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wbur.org\/onpoint\/2021\/01\/14\/the-racist-roots-of-the-capitol-insurrection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">helped fuel<\/a>&nbsp;the January 6 insurrection at the Capitol.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s this angry White man \u2014 not the Black or brown man you see approaching on the street at night \u2014 who poses the most dangerous threat to democracy in America,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Lest people accuse him of racism, Blake admitted his statement condemning white men so broadly was a \u201csweeping claim\u201d while maintaining that the rise of the angry white man, fueled in part by former President Trump, has led to a spike in political violence. His chief example: Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) sharing an anime cartoon in which he kills socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) with a sword. Though Blake acknowledged the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aol.com\/article\/news\/2017\/06\/15\/congressman-steve-scalise-critical-condition-baseball-shooting\/22219808\">2017 attack<\/a> in which a Bernie Sanders supporter attempted to assassinate Republican members of Congress, he believes that too many white conservatives fantasize about killing their opponents:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"14.913461538462\">\n<p>Talking about assaulting and killing political enemies has become so normal \u2014 and seemingly acceptable \u2014 in conservative circles today that a White man felt comfortable enough to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/27\/when-do-we-get-use-guns-ongoing-danger-false-fraud-claims\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ask<\/a>&nbsp;a right-wing activist at a public forum in Idaho last month:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen do we get to use the guns? \u2026 How many elections are they going to steal before we kill these people?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Add to this toxic political atmosphere another element: Laws that not only protect White vigilante violence but, in some cases, seem to embolden vigilantes.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"c-message_kit__gutter\">\n<div class=\"c-message_kit__gutter__right\" role=\"presentation\" data-qa=\"message_content\">\n<div class=\"c-message_kit__blocks c-message_kit__blocks--rich_text\">\n<div class=\"c-message__message_blocks c-message__message_blocks--rich_text\">\n<div class=\"p-block_kit_renderer\" data-qa=\"block-kit-renderer\">\n<div class=\"p-block_kit_renderer__block_wrapper p-block_kit_renderer__block_wrapper--first\" readability=\"8\">\n<div class=\"p-rich_text_block\" dir=\"auto\" readability=\"36\">\n<p>Blake further feared that the conservative-leaning Supreme Court could make gun ownership more legal throughout the United States, which would therefore encourage vigilante justice similar to what America witnessed during the post-Civil War reconstruction. He cited the January 6 riot on Capitol Hill as a \u201csequel\u201d to those violent years.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThat period, known as Reconstruction, was destroyed primarily by the violence of White men who used terrorist and vigilante groups like the KKK to assassinate elected officials, prevent Blacks from voting and overthrow state government,\u201d Blake said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe January 6 insurrection wasn\u2019t unprecedented. In many ways, it was a sequel,\u201d he added, citing an 1898 case in Wilmington, North Carolina, where white supremacists killed members of the multi-racial local government.<\/p>\n<p>Blake did not so much as even acknowledge how the wave of angry far-left activists (black and white) burned their way across the United States in 2020, destroying businesses, homes, and neighborhoods.<\/p>\n<p>Blake concluded his piece with a warning that Rittenhouse and other cases point to a frightening future.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis is what that future looks like: More angry White men emboldened by \u2018stand your ground\u2019 and citizen\u2019s arrest laws, inspired by a conservative interpretation of the Second Amendment. And more dead Americans,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cnot guilty\u201d verdict in the Rittenhouse trial has led to scores of far-left media figures lamenting that white supremacy will go unchecked. Speaking on MSNBC,&nbsp;NAACP President and CEO&nbsp;Derrick Johnson even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/clips\/2021\/11\/20\/naacp-president-rittenhouse-acquittal-worse-than-the-emmett-till-trial\/\">went<\/a>&nbsp;as far as to say that the Rittenhouse acquittal was worse than the acquittal for those who killed Emmett Till.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was worse than the Emmett Till trial. This was worse [than] so many trials where we know, for a fact, individuals committed murder and yet they were not brought to justice,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cIt is unfortunate, but this is America.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"11.22433460076\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We just witnessed a system built on white supremacy validate the terroristic acts of a white supremacist. <\/p>\n<p>This only further validates the need to abolish our current system.
