Asking parents for permission to jab kids as young as five is in the schedule,\u201d a senior source <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/health\/16791647\/kids-five-years-old-covid-vaccine\/\">told<\/a> <em>The Sun<\/em> newspaper.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNothing is in the public domain yet, and the plans could change, but jabbing young children is backed by many scientists,\u201d the source continued, adding: \u201cIt is controversial, but will help us reach our goal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for NHS England would not deny the veracity of the report, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/covid-19-children-as-young-as-five-could-get-jab-in-spring-according-to-leaked-plan-reports-12473350\">saying<\/a> per Sky News:&nbsp;\u201cThe NHS regularly plans for how it would operationalise opening vaccines to more people so it is ready to extend the jab quickly when and if any decision is recommended by the JCVI.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Should the government wish to extend the vaccination programme to youngsters between the ages five and 11, it would need to be signed off by the&nbsp;Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and would need to take into consideration recommendations from the&nbsp;Joint Committee on Vaccination&nbsp;and Immunisation (JCVI).<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for the MHRA said:&nbsp;\u201cExtending the use of a COVID-19 vaccine to children aged five to 11 would only be authorised if the expected standards of safety, quality and effectiveness are met.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs with children aged 12 and above, parents can be fully assured that for any potential authorisation in this age group, the safety of the children would be our top priority.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"7.0267379679144\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">UK Government Approves Coronavirus Vaccines for 12 to 15 Year Olds to \u2018Reduce Disruption\u2019 in Schools <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/dF2s1jTplr\">https:\/\/t.co\/dF2s1jTplr<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1437448234432032768?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 13, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Healthy children in Britain between 12 and 15 years old were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/09\/13\/uk-government-approves-coronavirus-vaccines-for-12-to-15-year-olds\/\">cleared<\/a> to take one dose of a coronavirus vaccine since September. However, they have yet to be cleared to take a second jab.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Announcing the decision&nbsp;England\u2019s Chief Medical Officer, Chris Whitty argued that it was necessary to vaccinate children in order to reduce \u201cdisruption\u201d in schools.<\/p>\n<p>The decision from the government came despite the&nbsp;Joint Committee on Vaccination&nbsp;and Immunisation (JCVI) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/09\/13\/uk-government-approves-coronavirus-vaccines-for-12-to-15-year-olds\/\">not recommending<\/a> vaccinating children, arguing that the \u201cmarginal\u201d benefits of giving children jabs were not enough to justify the move.
