We must take several actions: prevent the sustainable establishment of camps, act upstream to dismantle smuggler networks, and strengthen work with the countries of origin to prevent these flows.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn the other hand, we have the British, who waver between partnership and provocation. We need to further strengthen collaboration with them. If those [migrants] who want to go to Britain have family there, it has to be part of family reunification. If they are trafficked, we have to break this system,\u201d Macron added.<\/p>\n<p>Family reunification, also known as chain migration, is a large driver of immigration in some European countries, with a 2020 report revealing that in the preceding decade, Sweden had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2020\/01\/09\/sweden-granted-1-2m-new-migrant-permits-last-decade-one-fifth-of-residents-are-foreign-born\/\">granted<\/a> 1.2 million residency permits \u2014 around one-tenth of its own population \u2014 of which 365,000 were for family reunification.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>A 2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2019\/08\/22\/one-quarter-of-germans-now-come-from-migrant-backgrounds\/\">report<\/a> from the&nbsp;German Federal Statistical Office found that the main motivation for 13.5 million people to move to Germany was for family reunification reasons, in 48 per cent of cases.<\/p>\n<p>Germany and Sweden were known to have taken in a very high number of migrants during the 2015 migrant crisis, with Germany taking the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/world-europe-34131911\">highest total number<\/a> and Sweden the highest number <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-europe-35425735\">per capita<\/a> in Europe.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"7.7011494252874\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Boris Govt Plan to Send Boat Migrants to Albania \u2018Will Never Happen\u2019, Says Albanian Govt <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/mfiHzqREqv\">https:\/\/t.co\/mfiHzqREqv<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1461651718358269959?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 19, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>British Prime Minister Boris Johnson\u2019s spokesman responded to Macron\u2019s remarks, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2021\/nov\/19\/no-10-downplays-migrant-row-after-macron-laments-british-provocation\">telling<\/a> <em>The Guardian<\/em> on Friday: \u201cWe continue to work extremely closely with the French to prevent these crossings. We have been clear that we need to do more, both ourselves and the French, which is why we continue to work with them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re facing a global migration crisis, choreographed by organised crime groups who put people on boats to make these dangerous crossings. This is a pressing and urgent issue for all of Europe, requiring incredibly close work together. It\u2019s a shared problem so we need shared solutions.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Sources close to British government ministers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/11\/16\/macron-punishing-uk-with-migrant-crisis-because-of-brexit-ministers-believe-report\/\">told<\/a> the media earlier this week that some lawmakers believe Macron is using the migrant crisis as a political tool ahead of French presidential elections next year and is part of \u201cMacron\u2019s Brexit punishment strategy\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>London has already signed off on the first instalment of a pledged \u00a354 million to Paris to stop the crossings, amidst tensions with French ministers over the English Channel migrant crisis, with the country\u2019s&nbsp;interior minister, G\u00e9rald Darmanin, blaming Britain\u2019s underground illegal economy as acting as a draw to migrants.<\/p>\n<p>Brexit leader Nigel Farage has made similar criticisms, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/11\/17\/farage-slams-uk-govts-generous-handouts-as-pull-for-mass-migration\/\">blaming<\/a> the welfare state for using British taxpayers\u2019 money to generously support illegals and asylum seekers, which in turn acts as a pull for mass migration.<\/p>\n<p>The UK government has not performed well at returning illegal aliens to the last safe country of residence, such as France, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/11\/18\/uk-govt-returns-just-five-out-of-more-than-23000-illegal-boat-migrants-to-eu\/\">just five<\/a> being returned who arrived this year.<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Johnson is,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/boris-johnson-demands-channel-migrant-fix-9mvrnrbfm\">according<\/a> to <em>The Times<\/em> on Saturday, \u201cexasperated\u201d by his own government\u2019s failure to tackle the Channel migrant crisis and has ordered a cross-Whitehall review.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s told ministers to redouble efforts to fix this, no matter how difficult it is.
