Sean Patrick Maloney made two false claims in a statement condemning the acquittal of Kyle Rittenhouse.<\/p>\n<p>Maloney claimed that Jacob Blake, a black man shot by police while carrying a knife and refusing to follow lawful orders, was \u201cunarmed\u201d and the victim of an \u201cunjust killing.\u201d Blake, who is paralyzed, later admitted to carrying the weapon during an <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/01\/14\/gma-interviews-jacob-blake\/\">appearance<\/a> on Good Morning America. The Department of Justice also <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/08\/rusten-sheskey-doj-closed-investigation-jacob-blake\/\">cleared<\/a> the officer, Rusten Sheskey, of violating Blake\u2019s civil rights. Blake later <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/11\/06\/jacob-blake-kenosha-wisconsin-plea-deal-disorderly-conduct\/\">pleaded<\/a> guilty to disorderly conduct and was sentenced to two years\u2019 probation. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/01\/06\/washington-post-jacob-blake-unarmed-kenosha\/\">(RELATED: Washington Post Forced To Correct Article, Tweet Describing Jacob Blake As \u2018Unarmed\u2019 Despite Evidence Showing He Had A Knife)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rittenhouse shot three men after traveling to Kenosha in an attempt to protect a local business from rioters following Blake\u2019s shooting. After pleading self-defense, Rittenhouse was found not guilty on Friday of five <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/19\/kyle-rittenhouse-acquitted-all-charges\/\">charges<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is clear that our legal system has one set of rules for some Americans, and very different standards for others,\u201d Maloney said in the updated statement. \u201cPeople are right to be outraged, and they are right to be outraged at the violence that disproportionately hurts people of color and the legal system that fails to hold the violent accountable.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) was forced to issue a correction after Chairman and New York Rep.
