Mary Miller (R-IL) asked President Joe Biden\u2019s Department of Education Deputy Secretary, Cindy Marten, on Wednesday if there are two genders, Marten refused to answer.<\/p>\n<p>The incident happened during an Education and Labor Committee hearing in which Miller questioned if teachers and school employees could lose their jobs for stating the \u201cbiological and genetic fact that there are two genders.\u201d Marten repeatedly attempted to redirect Miller\u2019s question before finally brushing the congresswoman off by saying, \u201d Thank you for your questions.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Here is the dialogue:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"69\">\n<p><span><strong>Miller:<\/strong> Deputy Secretary Marten, when Secretary Cardona testified before this committee, I asked him about the department\u2019s guidance to school teachers that they could be charged with harassment if they say that there are only two genders, male and female.&nbsp;<\/span><span>I asked the secretary how many genders there are, and he couldn\u2019t answer. Could you please tell me, \u201cHow many genders are there?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Marten:<\/strong> Well, I\u2019d rather talk about the bigger value around our students being able to learn in \u2014<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Miller:<\/strong> But under your guidance, under your guidance, you are saying that teachers could be investigated for harassment if they state the biological fact that there are two genders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Marten:<\/strong> What\u2019s most important is that all campuses\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Miller:<\/strong> Are you saying that teachers could lose their jobs over this, but you can\u2019t actually say how many genders there are?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Marten:<\/strong> We don\u2019t make decisions at the local level about teachers, but what I can say \u2014&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Miller:<\/strong> This came from the Department of Education. This is not local. If it was local, I assure you, regular Americans, including rank and file Democrats, are furious that the Department of Education is promoting the teaching of gender identity in schools.&nbsp;<\/span><span>It\u2019s a made-up concept that\u2019s going to have significant implications. Every human is either a male or female. That\u2019s a biological fact.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Marten:<\/strong> Thank you.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Miller:<\/strong> So you still can\u2019t say how many genders there are?&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Marten<\/strong>: I can tell you that the Department is committed to student safety and all students\u2019 rights to access education \u2014<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Miller:<\/strong> But what about the teachers that teach biology or genetics, and they say that there\u2019s two genders? Male and female. Your Department\u2019s guidance is saying that they could be subject to investigation for harassment. What do you say about that?&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Marten:<\/strong> And the end of the day I know that \u2014&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Miller:<\/strong> I know that you know its\u2019s hard to come up with an answer that could satisfy parents in our country.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Marten:<\/strong> Thank you for your questions.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Miller:<\/strong> Yeah, did you have an answer for that? Because teachers could be losing their jobs over this, over stating the biological and genetic fact that there are two genders. It\u2019s your Department that put this guidance out. You\u2019re making teachers vulnerable, and even students perhaps, that don\u2019t feel safe in locker rooms or bathrooms, and they go in and communicate that to perhaps a principal or a teacher; perhaps then they\u2019re accused of harassment.&nbsp; This has really got significant implications, so I hope next time you could tell us how many genders there are. Thank you, and I yield back.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Rep. Miller: Biden DoE says that claiming there are only two genders is harassment\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bdBj3zB_US8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>Miller was specifically referencing a June 2021 <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.ed.gov\/about\/offices\/list\/ocr\/docs\/ocr-factsheet-tix-202106.pdf\">memo<\/a> sent out by Biden\u2019s Department of Education around the time the Biden administration <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/sports\/2021\/06\/16\/biden-administration-doubles-down-expanding-title-ix-cover-transgender-students\/\">announced<\/a> that Title IX protections would be expanded to cover transgender students in schools that accept federal funding. In the memo, titled \u201cConfronting Anti-LGBTQI+ Harassment in Schools,\u201d&nbsp;the Department of Education lists examples of the types of incidents in the Educational Opportunities Section of the Civil Rights Division (CRT) at the Department of Justice and the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) at the Department of Education can investigate.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>A few examples of&nbsp; \u201cthe kinds of incidents CRT and OCR can investigate\u201d include [emphasis added]:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>When he starts middle school, a transgender boy introduces himself as Brayden and tells his classmates he uses he\/him pronouns. <strong>Some of his former elementary school classmates \u201cout\u201d him to others, and every day during physical education class call him transphobic slurs, push him, and call him by his former name. When he reports it to the school\u2019s administrators, they dismiss it, saying: \u201cyou can\u2019t expect everyone to agree with your choices.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>An elementary school student with intersex traits dresses in a gender neutral way, identifies as nonbinary, and uses they\/them pronouns. The student\u2019s teacher laughs when other students ask if they are \u201ca boy or a girl\u201d and comments that there is \u201conly one way to find out.\u201d <strong>The teacher tells the class that there are only boys and girls and anyone who thinks otherwise has something wrong with them.<\/strong> The student tells an administrator, who remarks \u201cyou have to be able to laugh at yourself sometimes.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>On her way to the girls\u2019 restroom, a transgender high school girl is stopped by the principal who bars her entry. The principal tells the student to use the boys\u2019 restroom or nurse\u2019s office because her school records identify her as \u201cmale.\u201d<\/strong> Later, the student joins her friends to try out for the girls\u2019 cheerleading team and the coach turns her away from tryouts solely because she is transgender. When the student complains, the principal tells her \u201cthose are the district\u2019s policies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When Miller finished questioning Marten, far-left squad member Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) called Miller\u2019s line of questioning \u201cnonsensical\u201d and praised Marten for her ability to \u201cstay the course.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Miller told Breitbart News exclusively that Omar\u2019s insult was empty and still provides no evidence that there are, in fact, more than two genders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would ask her the same, very simple question. How many genders are there? They claim our questions are nonsensical, but when asked, they have no response,\u201d Miller said via email on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Miller, who to no avail&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/education-secretary-cardona-number-of-genders\">previously questioned<\/a> the Department\u2019s stance on gender, said Marten refused to answer because \u201cthe Biden Administration surely recognizes that their radical ideology is not supported by the American people.\u201d She further contended it is yet another area where the government is attempting to surpass the role of parents.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe danger is that teachers are prosecuted, losing their jobs even. Confused children are troubled &amp; bullied. Parents lose control of their children\u2019s education and are not able to support their children and protect them from indoctrination in the workplace,\u201d Miller said. \u201cIt is already affecting students, teachers, and parents; look at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/12\/father-loudoun-county-schools-hid-daughters-bathroom-assault-by-boy-wearing-skirt\/\">father who was arrested<\/a> in Loudoun County for trying to protect his daughter and other schoolchildren from being assaulted by \u201ctransgender\u201d mentally ill children. It\u2019s time for parents to take back control of their local school boards.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Just a few months back during a budget reconciliation markup meeting Democrat Rep. John Yarmuth (KY) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/09\/10\/we-need-to-protect-kids-from-parents-house-democrats-rail-against-schools-requiring-parental-consent-to-vaccinate-children\/\">said<\/a> the government knows better than parents when it comes to vaccinating children against the Chinese coronavirus after Miller proposed legislation mandating that schools obtain parent or guardian consent before vaccinating children.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>He said in opposition to the amendment:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"10\">\n<p>I know I\u2019ll get in a lot of trouble for this, but I want to refer to the sponsor\u2019s premise for the amendment, and the first words out of her mouth were, \u2018parents know what\u2019s best for their children.\u2019 I think the evidence is compelling and overwhelming and widespread that they don\u2019t.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"11.320132013201\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">House Democrats think that <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepMaryMiller?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@RepMaryMiller<\/a> is wrong about parents knowing what\u2019s best for their children.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, Democrats say that \u201cwe should protect children from their parents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2b07\ufe0fWATCH HERE\u2b07\ufe0f <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/OgXxfa1Od4\">pic.twitter.com\/OgXxfa1Od4<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 House Ed &amp; Labor Republicans (@EdLaborGOP) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EdLaborGOP\/status\/1436120896008302599?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 10, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Another squad member, Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), went as far as calling the proposal \u201cnonsensical\u201d and railed against people who refuse to follow \u201cthe science\u201d of masks and vaccines. The Education and Labor Committee ultimately opposed the amendment along party lines. The amendment has yet to go up for an official vote to be included in Democrats\u2019 $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation, which doubles as a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/09\/06\/joe-biden-looks-stuff-government-funding-bill-leftist-goodies\/\">leftist wishlist<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<div id=\"attachment_18091922\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" readability=\"32\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Pramila-Jayapal-stare-getty.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18091922\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Pramila-Jayapal-stare-getty.jpg\" alt=\"Rep. Pramila Jayapal (Drew Angerer\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Miller said \u201cabsolutely\u201d when Breitbart News asked if Democrats hold the same attitude that parents do not know best for their children when it comes to gender ideology.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe in parental consent. It is time to speak out against indoctrination and abuse of children,\u201d she said. \u201cNo school or government should consent on behalf of children for any matter. Believe it or not, children across our nation are being administered the vaccine without parental consent! It should be a priority of Congress to give power back to the parents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Parents have been mobilizing across the country in opposition to government overreach in schools, particularly regarding vaccine and mask mandates, Critical Race Theory, and gender ideology. In fact, as of July, there had been&nbsp;more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/07\/06\/school-board-recalls-nearly-double-as-parents-fight-crt-pandemic-policies\/\">school board member recall efforts<\/a> in 2021 than in any year since 2006. The rejection of woke indoctrination in schools manifested on the national stage when Republican Glenn Youngkin won the Virginia governor race on November 3.
