Adriano Espaillat (D-NY) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepEspaillat\/status\/1461762759192981520\">said<\/a>. \u201cA murderer is once again walking free today \u2014 our system is terribly broken.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dyjuan Tatro, a senior adviser to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), called for civil unrest following the verdict, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LevineJonathan\/status\/1461767544692428800\">tweeting<\/a>, \u201cno justice, no peace.\u201d Tatro himself is a criminal ex-gang member who <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/02\/14\/house-dems-hire-ex-gang-member-to-top-campaign-post\/\">served<\/a> time for racketeering and shooting two rival gang members before joining the DCCC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do not believe that convictions equal justice. But I am convinced that the \u2018not guilty\u2019 verdict constitutes a great injustice today. The American legal system is rooted in racism and functions to uphold white supremacy,\u201d Tatro <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DyjuanTatro\/status\/1461764040519159816\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GavinNewsom\/status\/1461769436952551425\">said<\/a> following Rittenhouse\u2019s \u201cnot guilty\u201d verdict: \u201cAmerica today: you can break the law, carry around weapons built for a military, shoot and kill people, and get away with it. That\u2019s the message we\u2019ve just sent to armed vigilantes across the nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ACLU, which purports to fight for Americans\u2019 civil rights, condemned the verdict in a lengthy Twitter <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ACLU\/status\/1461762952567136259\">thread<\/a>, blaming Kenosha law enforcement for forcing \u201cprotesters\u201d into confrontations with \u201cwhite militia groups.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Despite Kyle Rittenhouse\u2019s conscious decision to travel across state lines and injure one person and take the lives of two people protesting the shooting of Jacob Blake by police, he was not held responsible for his actions.
