He said, \u2018I just decided that if anyone came up that I didn\u2019t know, I would put my mask on.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Guests at the book party had to show proof of being vaccinated to gain entry, and Quinn protested, \u201cHe was being safe. He knew everyone was vaccinated. If it was someone we knew, he would trust them, and if it was somebody else, he didn\u2019t.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonian.com\/2020\/05\/05\/sally-quinn-modeled-the-erotic-hero-of-her-1991-bestseller-on-anthony-fauci\/\">Reminiscing<\/a> in 2020 about the first time she met Fauci, Quinn gushed, \u201cI just fell in love with him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added, \u201cUsually those dinners, you make polite conversation, and that\u2019s it. But we had this intense conversation, personal conversation. I though[t], \u2018Wow, this guy is amazing. \u2026 He just exuded charisma.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In July, Fauci held an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/watch\/?v=619034088996380\">interview<\/a>&nbsp;with NBC\u2019s Chuck Todd, who said, \u201cWe know Mississippi \u2026 has the lowest vaccinated\u2026rate in the country. You are in Biloxi, Mississippi right now, Dr. Fauci. Would you be wearing a mask? You\u2019re fully vaccinated, but would you be wearing a mask in Biloxi?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that would be a good reason to do that,\u201d Fauci said. \u201cI mean because they\u2019re \u2014 as we\u2019ve said so often that vaccines are not \u2014 even as good as they are and highly effective, nothing is 100%.
