And according to the Institute for Family Studies\u2019 (IFS) analysis of the data, fewer young people are getting married. \u201cThe never-married share of under-35s rose from just over 50% in the early 1990s, to 60-75% over the last decade,\u201d IFS <a href=\"https:\/\/ifstudies.org\/blog\/more-faith-less-sex-why-are-so-many-unmarried-young-adults-not-having-sex\">reported<\/a>&nbsp;last week.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>This increase in abstinent young people is in stark contrast to recent headlines, which have shown leftists pushing radical sexual ideology. For example, Breitbart News just <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/education\/2021\/11\/15\/vermont-requires-middle-high-schools-to-provide-free-condoms-to-students\/\">reported<\/a> this week that Vermont is requiring middle and high schools to provide condoms to students. Over the summer, Illinois <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/06\/02\/illinois-lawmakers-send-sexually-charged-k-12-sex-ed-bill-governor\/\">passed<\/a> a law <a href=\"https:\/\/news.wttw.com\/2021\/08\/24\/pritzker-signs-law-new-sex-education-standards-critics-say-they-go-too-far\">instituting<\/a> radical sexual education for K-12 students, including teaching third graders \u201cthe potential role of hormone blockers on young people who identify as transgender.\u201d Across the pond, a London library <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/07\/11\/watch-rainbow-monkey-dildo-story-hour-at-london-library\/\">invited<\/a> an \u201canti-racist carnival troupe with a performer dressed up as a monkey with a large dildo hanging between his legs for a children\u2019s reading event\u201d in July.<\/p>\n<p>Many young people seem to be rejecting the most recent sexual wave.<\/p>\n<p>Although social distancing during the pandemic could have contributed to a lack of sex, abstinence has been trending upward since 2008, when eight percent of people in this age group went without sex for a year.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<div id=\"attachment_18809026\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"26.181818181818\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/figure1final-w640.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18809026\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/figure1final-w640.png\" alt=\"Share of Under 35s Who Have Not Had Sex in the Last Year (General Social Survey Data\/Institute for Family Studies)\" width=\"599\" height=\"482\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ifstudies.org\/blog\/more-faith-less-sex-why-are-so-many-unmarried-young-adults-not-having-sex\">Courtesy<\/a> of the Institute for Family Studies<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Abstinence is highly correlated with religiosity among never-married under-35-year-olds.&nbsp;Notably, less than 20 percent of this demographic attends religious services more than once a month, a number remaining&nbsp;steady since 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Those who attend religious services more than monthly seem to be following more traditional beliefs when it comes to sex. In 2008, about 20 percent of people in this group did not have sex in the previous year. This number tripled in 2021 to 60 percent.<\/p>\n<p>In this never-married age group, the less devout are also having less sex \u2014 ten percent in 2008, doubling to 20 percent in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The 2021 General Society Survey asked&nbsp;4,032 people from December 2020 to May 2021, \u201cAbout how often did you have sex during the last 12 months?\u201d The margin of error is not stated.
