Jim Jordan (R-OH) demanded on Thursday that the FBI submit to the House Judiciary Committee any records related to counterterrorism tools that the agency used against parents expressing outrage at school boards, Breitbart News has learned exclusively.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan, who serves as ranking member on the Judiciary Committee, sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray detailing the committee\u2019s requests after Jordan&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Jim_Jordan\/status\/1460718278939131905?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">published<\/a>&nbsp;an email Tuesday from a whistleblower inside the FBI that revealed the agency\u2019s counterterrorism and criminal divisions had created a \u201cthreat tag\u201d for FBI officials to apply to investigations into threats made against school administrators.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe are investigating the troubling attempts by the Department of Justice and the White House to use the heavy hand of federal law enforcement to target concerned parents at local school board meetings and chill their protected First Amendment activity,\u201d the letter begins.<\/p>\n<p>Read a copy of the letter below:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The Biden administration\u2019s Justice and Education Departments have come under fire in recent weeks after Attorney General Merrick Garland&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/ag\/page\/file\/1438986\/download\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">released<\/a>&nbsp;a memo on October 4 stating he was directing the FBI to engage in local education matters because of an alleged&nbsp;\u201cdisturbing spike in harassment, intimidation, and threats of violence against school administrators, board members, teachers, and staff who participate in the vital work of running our nation\u2019s public schools.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Garland\u2019s letter came shortly after the National School Boards Association (NSBA)&nbsp;<a title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/03\/school-board-group-asks-bidens-help-anti-crt-domestic-terrorist-parents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sent<\/a>&nbsp;a letter to President Joe Biden on September 30 seeking federal law enforcement assistance to handle outraged parents who were allegedly partaking in \u201cacts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The letter suggested that such acts might warrant \u201cdomestic terrorism and hate crimes\u201d classifications.<\/p>\n<p>In response to a massive public outcry over the reference to domestic terrorism, the NSBA retracted its letter on October 22, apologizing for \u201csome of the language\u201d it had initially used and clarifying that the NSBA does value the \u201cvoices of parents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Garland, however, testified before both the&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/merrick-garland-stands-behind-memo-on-threats-to-educators-11635359305\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Senate<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JudiciaryGOP\/status\/1460702250238726145\/photo\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">House<\/a>&nbsp;Judiciary Committees in late October and gave no indication that he intended to modify or retract his own message against parents when he was pressed by Republicans on the subject.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Garland, as Jordan noted on Tuesday in a public letter to the attorney general about the whistleblower document, testified that the FBI was \u201cnot using federal counterterrorism tools to target concerned parents.\u201d Jordan called \u201cinto question the accuracy and completeness\u201d of Garland\u2019s testimony based on the whistleblower revelation and offered the attorney general an opportunity to amend his testimony:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"4.6274509803922\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">From our Whistleblower: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/10nfvsgmba\">pic.twitter.com\/10nfvsgmba<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Rep. Jim Jordan (@Jim_Jordan) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Jim_Jordan\/status\/1460718278939131905?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 16, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In his letter to Wray, Jordan asserted that \u201cthe whistleblower disclosure only amplifies our need to investigate how&nbsp;the Biden Administration is using federal law enforcement resources, including counterterrorism tools, to target concerned parents at school board&nbsp;meetings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Ohio Republican asked Wray for a record of the number of parents who have received a \u201cthreat tag,\u201d which the whistleblower showed was labeled \u201cEDUOFFICIALS.\u201d He also asked for all documents and communications relating to the education tag and to any investigations&nbsp;of \u201cschool board threats sent or received by\u201d the FBI\u2019s counterterrorism assistant directors.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan\u2019s demands come as a follow-up to a request House Judiciary Committee Republicans&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JudiciaryGOP\/status\/1455962450587684865?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">made<\/a>&nbsp;to Wray on November 3 for documents and communications relating to any activity the FBI had engaged in at the prompting of Garland\u2019s October 4 memo.<\/p>\n<p>The letter on Thursday revealed that Wray has not responded to the Judiciary Committee\u2019s November 3 request, the deadline of which was November 17.
