Kenneth Griepp and ten members of his Church At The Rock in Brooklyn\u2019s southeastern Canarsie neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p>The pro-life advocates fought a legal battle for four and half years after former New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman filed a federal lawsuit against them in June 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The Thomas More Society, which represented the pastor and the members of his church, argued that the case was an \u201cassault\u201d on their First Amendment rights.<\/p>\n<p>The group of pro-life sidewalk counselors has been coming to Choices Women\u2019s Medical Center in Jamaica, Queens, on Saturday mornings to peacefully offer information and alternatives to abortion since 2012, their attorneys <a href=\"https:\/\/thomasmoresociety.org\/client\/church-at-the-rock\/\">said<\/a>. Schneiderman accused the group of harassing women who were entering the abortion facility.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, the state filed a <a href=\"https:\/\/thomasmoresociety.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Stipulation-of-Dismissal-as-filed.pdf\">dismissal<\/a> of the charges in federal district court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased to see the state of New York has finally come to its senses and dismissed these baseless charges,\u201d said Thomas More Society Senior Counsel Stephen Crampton in a <a href=\"https:\/\/thomasmoresociety.org\/brooklyn-church-members-prevail-over-new-yorks-classless-politicians-and-pro-abortion-lobby\/\">statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJustice has finally prevailed,\u201d the attorney said.<\/p>\n<p>Crampton said the state aggressively pursued the case, \u201cusing hidden cameras, undercover investigators, and even a fake Facebook account posing as the page of a pro-life advocate\u201d in an attempt to uncover evidence of wrongdoing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey came up with absolutely nothing, but that didn\u2019t stop them from continuing to persecute these gentle Christians,\u201d Crampton said.<\/p>\n<p>In August, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit unexpectedly reversed its decision and affirmed a lower court ruling that favored the pro-life church members.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe case should never have been brought in the first place,\u201d Crampton said. \u201cBut the pro-abortion lobby is powerful in New York, and classless politicians like former Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and current Attorney General Letitia James are only too happy to waste hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars prosecuting \u2013 or persecuting \u2013 Christians seeking to exercise fundamental First Amendment rights on the public sidewalks.
