Ron&nbsp;DeSantis (R) on Thursday signed legislation in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/18\/ron-desantis-trolls-biden-signing-special-session-bills-brandon-florida\/\">Brandon, Florida<\/a>, protecting Floridians from losing their jobs over coronavirus vaccine mandates, describing it as the \u201cstrongest piece of legislation that\u2019s been enacted anywhere in the country in this regard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re making sure that people have a right to earn a living. People have a right to have protections in their place of employment,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/GovRonDeSantis\/videos\/907791133447042\">said<\/a>, adding parents should also have protection \u201cto be able to direct the upbringing of their kids.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAnd if you look at what we\u2019re doing today, Florida is leading. This is the strongest piece of legislation that\u2019s been enacted anywhere in the country in this regard, and we\u2019re awfully proud to be able to it here today at Brandon Honda,\u201d he said, thanking the Florida legislature for \u201cstepping up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I think it\u2019s something that is going to make a big, big difference for an awful lot of people. We are respecting people\u2019s individual freedom in this state. \u2026 And ultimately, I don\u2019t know how it ever came to this point,\u201d he continued, noting the officials in the Biden White House who originally dismissed the prospect of mandates are now for them.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"7.6666666666667\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Crowd Erupts into &#8220;Let&#8217;s Go, Brandon&#8221; Chant as Gov. For example, we recognize people that have natural immunity,\u201d he said, noting it stands as one of the automatic exemptions.<\/p>\n<p>According to the legislature\u2019s <a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flsenate.gov\/PublishedContent\/Offices\/2020-2022\/President\/Documents\/11_17_21_Keep_Florida_Free_Final_Passage.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">summary<\/a> of the measures:<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\" readability=\"9.5\">\n<blockquote readability=\"12\">\n<p><strong>HB 1B\/SB 2B:<\/strong> Protects students, parents, workers and employers in our state by creating a framework for employees to make the best decision for their health and affirming the rights of parents to make health care decisions for their children. The bill prohibits COVID-19 vaccination mandates for employees in government and public education and protects parental choice on masks, vaccines and quarantine. Specifically, the legislation prohibits private-sector employers from having a COVID-19 vaccination mandate for employees without providing at least the five following individual exemptions:<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"page\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\" readability=\"8\">\n<blockquote readability=\"9\">\n<p><strong>HB 3B\/SB 4B:<\/strong> Creates a public records exemption for information, including personal medical information and religious information, contained in files created during an investigation of an employer who refuses to provide individual exemptions from COVID-19 vaccination requirements.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"page\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\" readability=\"7\">\n<blockquote readability=\"7\">\n<p><strong>HB 5B\/SB 6B:<\/strong> Directs the Executive Office of the Governor to review options for the State of Florida to take responsibility over our own workers\u2019 occupational safety and health issues in light of the misuse of OSHA by the Biden Administration.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"page\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\" readability=\"6\">\n<blockquote readability=\"5\">\n<p><strong>HB 7B\/SB 8B:<\/strong> Repeals the authority of the state Surgeon General to mandate vaccinations.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>DeSantis also noted that the data is \u201cvery clear at this point, COVID vaxxes are not preventing infection,\u201d citing surges in heavily vaccinated countries, some of which are reimposing restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo to say it should be mandated when you can still get it, this is a personal choice, so that\u2019s what we\u2019re doing, and that\u2019s the science-based approach, to say that this should be a personal choice,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis also noted that Florida already filed a lawsuit against Biden\u2019s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA rule), which has been&nbsp;consolidated in the Sixth Circuit Court<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>of Appeals. He ultimately predicted the OSHA rule is \u201cgoing to crash and burn.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also said the state is challenging the mandate on federal contractors and announced the state has \u201calso filed suit in Pensacola challenging HHS\u2019s nurse and doctor mandate for hospitals.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Florida Gov.
