Wendy Rittenhouse has said she did not know where her son was on Aug. 25, 2020. The rifle was \u201cpurchased, stored and used in Wisconsin,\u201d according to a statement from the Lake County, Illinois, State\u2019s Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Fact Check:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kyle Rittenhouse, an 18-year-old from Antioch, Illinois, has been charged with fatally shooting Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber and injuring Gaige Grosskreutz during an Aug. 25, 2020, protest in Kenosha, the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/kyle-rittenhouse-trial-kenosha-3febaa501c57a6b54e168353fe0b2a26\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Associated Press<\/a> reported. He was 17 at the time of the protest, which was sparked by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/article\/jacob-blake-shooting-kenosha.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">police shooting<\/a> of Jacob Blake. Kyle Rittenhouse claims he opened fire in self-defense, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/wireStory\/rittenhouse-hearing-decide-evidence-allowed-trial-80071271\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ABC News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the jury on Thursday entering <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/11\/18\/us\/kyle-rittenhouse-trial-thursday\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">its third day<\/a> of deliberations, a viral image targeting Wendy Rittenhouse has continued to go viral on social media: \u201cWhy are we just glazing over the fact that Kyle Rittenhouse\u2019s mother put her minor child in a vehicle, drove him across state lines and dropped him off in the middle of a riot armed with an assault rifle?\u201d reads the meme. \u201cWhy is she not behind bars?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The claim, however, doesn\u2019t hold up under scrutiny. Wendy Rittenhouse, the mother of Kyle Rittenhouse, told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/news\/ct-kyle-rittenhouse-mother-kenosha-20201110-ikckkevit5epzjydc52szyog34-story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Tribune<\/a> in November 2020 that she did not know where her son was on Aug. 25 of last year. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2020\/10\/16\/fact-check-charges-kyle-rittenhouse-kenosha-dropped\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Have All Charges Against Kyle Rittenhouse Been Dropped?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=si9YXq0A1Vk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">court<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=YVy6ZCMO-4M\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">testimony<\/a>, Kyle Rittenhouse slept over at the house of Black\u2019s stepfather on Aug. 24, 2020, after having driven himself to Kenosha from Antioch earlier that day. During the day on Aug. 25, 2020, he, one of his sisters, Black and another person went to downtown Kenosha, where they \u201cwalked around for a little bit\u201d and cleaned graffiti off a school, according to Kyle Rittenhouse\u2019s testimony. Kyle Rittenhouse <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=si9YXq0A1Vk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">also testified<\/a> that he and Black returned downtown later that evening after having spent some time at Black\u2019s stepfather\u2019s house, which is where Kyle Rittenhouse\u2019s rifle was stored.<\/p>\n<p>The timeline of events described by Black when he took the stand Nov. 2 to testify was similar to Kyle Rittenhouse\u2019s, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=YVy6ZCMO-4M\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">trial footage<\/a>. Back in May 2020, Black used money given to him by Kyle Rittenhouse to purchase for him the rifle that was used in the Aug. 25, 2020, shootings, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/fox11digital.com\/news\/PDFs\/Criminal-Complaint-Dominick-Black.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">criminal complaint<\/a> against Black.
