The GOP\u2019s advantages were driven by <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/16\/independents-swing-voters-sour-build-back-better-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Independent voters<\/a>, who broke for Republicans by 10 points on each generic ballot in the poll.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday\u2019s poll was even worse for Biden, showing his approval rating to be 17 points underwater at 36% even as his bipartisan infrastructure bill and $1.75 trillion spending plan polled at 57% and 58% favorability, respectively. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/17\/joe-biden-morning-consult-politico-poll-donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Most Americans Think Biden Is Neither \u2018Stable\u2019 Nor \u2018In Good Health,\u2019 Poll Shows)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Among registered voters, Republicans hold a five and four-point edge on a generic House and Senate ballot, respectively.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"6.3571428571429\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">More Americans prefer Republicans to win control of the House and Senate; 68% say higher prices are changing spending habits <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wBEVHpuugg\">https:\/\/t.co\/wBEVHpuugg<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Congress?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Congress<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Inflation?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Inflation<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/PresidentBiden?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#PresidentBiden<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Quinnipiac University Poll (@QuinnipiacPoll) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/QuinnipiacPoll\/status\/1461319529297022980?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 18, 2021<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This poll is just the latest to underscore the headwinds facing Democrats as they fight to defend their 221-213 House majority and a 50-50 Senate that relies on Vice President Kamala Harris to break ties. Another poll released Sunday gave Republicans a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/14\/gop-largest-lead-midterm-election-vote-40-years-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">10-point edge<\/a> on a generic congressional ballot, and earlier in November, the GOP <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/02\/glenn-youngkin-terry-mcauliffe-virginia-governor-election-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">won the governor\u2019s seat<\/a> in Virginia and came <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/03\/new-jersey-governors-race-close-results-phil-murphy-jack-ciattarelli\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">close<\/a>&nbsp;to victory in New Jersey, two states that vote reliably Democratic in presidential elections.<\/p>\n<p>Some moderates and Republicans have blamed the loss in Virginia on Democrats moving too far left, an assertion reflected in the Quinnipiac poll, which showed 52% of Americans saying as such while just 35% said that Republicans had moved too far to the right.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Republicans\u2019 edge, it is congressional Democrats that hold the higher approval rating.
