(AP Photo\/Paul Sancya)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Barra\u2019s reversal was inspired by Biden\u2019s election.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe are inspired by the President-elect\u2019s Build Back Better plan which outlines a clear intention to expand vehicle electrification in the United States,\u201d she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/11\/23\/general-motors-cheers-on-joe-bidens-climate-change-plan-drops-support-for-trump-in-legal-battle\/\">wrote<\/a> in a letter after the 2020 election.<\/p>\n<p>After Biden was elected president in November 2020, Barra also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/video\/national\/biden-delivers-remarks-on-reviving-us-economy\/2020\/11\/16\/8c84a215-b9c2-4cb0-9c36-f2aa366b2fe5_live.html\">joined<\/a> him for a meeting on the economy before taking office.<\/p>\n<p>In August, Biden boasted that Barra promised him he would get to drive the first electric Corvette after it was built.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to say publicly, I have a commitment from Mary when they make the first electric Corvette, I get to drive it,\u201d Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/gmauthority.com\/blog\/2021\/08\/biden-says-barra-promised-him-a-drive-in-future-electric-corvette-video\/\">said<\/a> during an event at the White House with Barra. \u201cRight, Mary? You think I\u2019m kidding. I\u2019m not kidding.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden commented on GM\u2019s production of electric vehicles while hosting Detroit automakers at the White House.
