The photos and videos produced as evidence showed border patrol agents using reins to control their horses and only once spinning those reins to keep a migrant from approaching the horse. At no point did any border patrol agent use a whip or even use the reins to whip migrants, as the media claimed.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, that didn\u2019t matter, since the Biden administration needed positive media coverage following its disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan. So, President Joe Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/despicable-liar-biden-hammered-for-promising-bp-agents-will-pay-for-strapping-migrants-running-them-over\">said<\/a> the agents allegedly responsible \u201cwill pay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo see people treated like they did? Horses running them over? People being strapped? It\u2019s outrageous,\u201d Biden said. \u201cI promise you those people will pay. There will be consequences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s dangerous, it\u2019s wrong. It sends the wrong message around the world, it sends the wrong message at home. It\u2019s simply not who we are,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas initially denied claims about border agents whipping migrants, but quickly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/dhs-chief-initially-denies-border-patrol-agents-used-whips-on-haitians-then-changes-tune\">changed his tune<\/a> when appearing on CNN a day later.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was horrified by what I saw,\u201d Mayorkas&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/09\/21\/politics\/alejandro-mayorkas-del-rio-border-cnntv\/index.html\">said<\/a>&nbsp;on CNN\u2019s \u201cNew Day\u201d in late September. \u201cI\u2019m going to let the investigation run its course. But the pictures that I observed troubled me profoundly. That defies all of the values that we seek to instill in our people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mayorkas said at the time that the investigation into the agents shouldn\u2019t last more than several weeks. Now, two months later, DHS has provided an update \u2013 but not a conclusion \u2013 to that investigation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Department of Homeland Security (DHS) provides this update regarding the investigation of horse patrol activity in Del Rio, Texas on September 19, 2021.
