Ron DeSantis (R) continues to battle against the Biden administration over vaccine mandates and is advocating using federal coronavirus funds to pay fines directed to Florida businesses that defy the federal vaccine mandate, which was originally slated to go into effect January 4, barring any legal challenges.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a dinner hosted by the National Federation of Independent Business\u2019 Florida chapter this week, the Florida governor said, <b>\u201c<\/b>If it gets to the point where they are trying to enforce, my view would be \u2018don\u2019t comply\u2019 and we would support the Legislature taking some of the stimulus money and using it to pay off the fines that business incur.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>According to&nbsp;<em>Politico\u2019s&nbsp;<\/em>Florida&nbsp;Playbook:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote readability=\"18\">\n<p><b>A defense fund<\/b><b>\u2014 <\/b>This is the second time DeSantis has floated the idea of having Florida taxpayers offset any fines (a \u201cdefense fund,\u201d he called it previously) placed on businesses, if they do not comply with the rule put in place by the federal agency that oversees workplace safety rules. The governor noted the law is on hold due to an appeals court ruling and he predicted that \u201cultimately, it\u2019s going down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2026<\/p>\n<p><b>Ripple effects<\/b> <b>\u2014<\/b> There could be a lot of ramifications to this nonetheless \u2014 such as if the federal government demanded the money be paid back because it wasn\u2019t used correctly. But more importantly, there\u2019s a much bigger issue looming around a Biden administration proposal that requires health care providers to adopt a vaccine mandates. If they don\u2019t comply, those providers could lose tens of millions in federal health care dollars. Several states have already sued over this rule but Florida hasn\u2019t yet. When asked about it on his way out of the door DeSantis said \u201cstay tuned.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>That would not be the first time the Florida governor has predicted the downfall of Biden\u2019s&nbsp;Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rule, which would require employers with over 100 employees to implement vaccine mandates or testing requirements. And that is exactly what they\u2019re trying to do here,\u201d DeSantis said following the rule\u2019s release, explaining it as an \u201cattempt to shoehorn policy through the bureaucracy in a way that will be difficult for some of these individuals and private parties to resist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s interesting that this is being done under the guise of emergency power,\u201d he added, noting it took officials two months to craft the rule, fundamentally undermining the narrative that it is, in fact, an emergency.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis added that the OSHA rule, which he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/28\/ron-desantis-bidens-osha-rule-is-going-down\/\">believes<\/a> will be defeated, is just the \u201ctip of the iceberg.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s going to be more power brought to bear, going forward if we don\u2019t stand up now, and fight back,\u201d he warned. \u201cI just think people are so sick of constantly being bossed around restricted, mandated all these different things.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Florida Gov.
