Noah said that even though demand had risen again because of the return to pre-pandemic life, it is not easy for gas producers to simply resume production, and it would take time to return to normal. The segment further found fault with the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), playing a montage of clips from news outlets arguing that OPEC was withholding production increases in order to recoup its pandemic losses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe big question is, what can be done to lower gas prices?\u201d Noah asked. \u201cWell, the bad news for President Biden is not much,\u201d Noah said before cutting to another montage of clips arguing that there was nothing he could do.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s tough for Biden is that it doesn\u2019t matter what else he does,\u201d Noah concluded. \u201cIf the price of gas stays high, that\u2019s that. Biden himself told CNN\u2019s Anderson Cooper at a town hall on October 22, \u201cI must tell you, I don\u2019t have a near-term answer.\u201dEnergy Secretary Jennifer Granholm burst out into laughter when asked during an interview with Bloomberg how she planned to increase oil production in the U.S. \u201cWould that I had the magic wand on this,\u201d Granholm said. \u201cAs you know, of course, oil is a global market. It is controlled by a cartel. That cartel is called OPEC.
