Scott Perry to be its next chair, the group announced late Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the past six years, I have stood shoulder to shoulder with the men and women of the Freedom Caucus as we have tirelessly fought to hold the line to promote liberty, safety and prosperity for Americans,\u201d Perry said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/freedomcaucus\/status\/1460442881416744964\/photo\/1\">statement<\/a> Monday evening. \u201cI am grateful to continue to carry the torch for these champions of freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Perry is set to succeed Arizona Republican Rep. Andy Biggs, whose leadership term expires on Jan. 1. Perry is a vocal defender of former President Donald Trump, and he voted to object to President Joe Biden\u2019s victory in multiple states, including Pennsylvania. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/25\/pence-proud-certify-election-jan-6-breaking-with-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Pence Says He Was \u2018Proud\u2019 To Certify The Election On January 6)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7321788\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"33\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7321788\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rep. Warren Davidson of Ohio and Ralph Norman of South Carolina in his bid to lead the caucus, according to Politico, which first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/minutes\/congress\/11-15-2021\/next-move-on-gosar\/\">reported<\/a> Perry\u2019s win.<\/p>\n<p>Though the group is less powerful now given Republicans\u2019 minority status in the House, it has wielded significant influence since it was founded in 2015 as an even more conservative alternative to the Republican Study Committee. It publicly opposed then-House Speaker John Boehner and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2015\/10\/07\/one-of-mccarthys-rivals-just-got-a-key-endorsement\/\">prevented<\/a>&nbsp;California Republican Rep.
