Cori Bush (D-MO) believes that if 18-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse gets acquitted on the grounds of self-defense, white supremacists will be emboldened to shoot at Black Lives Matter protesters.<\/p>\n<p>Repeating the lie that Michael Brown was \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/08\/09\/joe-biden-michael-brown-life-was-taken-in-ferguson\/\">murdered<\/a>\u201d at the hands of a white police officer, Cori Bush falsely claimed on Monday that white supremacists in Ferguson, Missouri, would literally hide up in the hills and callously shoot at protesters.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWhen we marched in Ferguson, white supremacists would hide behind a hill near where Michael Brown Jr. was murdered and shoot at us,\u201d she said. \u201cThey never faced consequences. I vividly remember hiding under porches in Canfield as shots were fired at us. No one came to help us. The question we need to ask is why white supremacists feel empowered to open-carry rifles, incite violence, and put Black lives at risk across our country,\u201d the spokesperson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webstercountycitizen.com\/news\/state\/article_df853986-e9d3-5e48-8abf-dbd83ee6ec45.html\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"subscriber-only\" readability=\"29.136101973684\">\n<p>Just one minor problem with Bush\u2019s assertion: it never happened. According to&nbsp;Ferguson Police Chief Frank McCall Jr., a black man, the department has no record of such an incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot that I\u2019m aware of,\u201d&nbsp;he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webstercountycitizen.com\/news\/state\/article_df853986-e9d3-5e48-8abf-dbd83ee6ec45.html\">told<\/a><em> Webster County Citizen.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The only documented incident of the type described by Bush occurred in March 2015 when two police officers forming a security line outside the Ferguson police headquarters were shot, causing protesters to flee.
