A curfew violation charge was dropped earlier in the trial, and the judge tossed a weapons charge Monday after prosecutors agreed Rittenhouse had not broken the law.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>It is unclear how long the jury will deliberate; it could return a verdict as early as Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The prosecution spent much of its closing argument behaving as a team of defense lawyers, attempting to poke holes in the defense\u2019s argument that Rittenhouse had acted in self-defense when he shot and killed two rioters and wounded another on August 25, 2020, during Black Lives Matter riots that wracked the city after false reports the police had shot and wounded an unarmed black man, Jacob Blake Jr. (Blake was later found to have been armed with a knife while resisting arrest.)<\/p>\n<p>At several points, the prosecution argued that the mob who chased Rittenhouse that night had the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/15\/prosecutor-argues-for-vigilante-action-against-rittenhouse-mob-had-right-to-chase-him\/\">right<\/a>\u201d to do so, and was full of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/law-and-order\/2021\/11\/15\/watch-prosecutor-in-rittenhouse-case-praises-rioters-that-crowd-was-full-of-heroes\/\">heroes<\/a>.\u201d They also said that Rittenhouse provoked the attacks because he was armed and appeared to be an \u201cactive shooter,\u201d and that he therefore forfeited the right of self-defense, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/2nd-amendment\/2021\/11\/15\/watch-prosecutor-says-rittenhouse-should-have-let-mob-attack-him-because-everybody-takes-a-beating-sometimes\/\">should have let the crowd beat him<\/a> rather than firing.<\/p>\n<p>The defense said that Rittenhouse did not have a legal obligation to be beaten in the streets of Kenosha and risk his life. It also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/law-and-order\/2021\/11\/15\/defense-closing-argument-no-evidence-rittenhouse-a-white-supremacist-looking-for-trouble\/\">pointed out<\/a> that media reports that Rittenhouse was a \u201cwhite supremacist looking for trouble\u201d were false and that there was never any evidence to substantiate those claims (which were made by then-candidate Joe Biden, among others.)<\/p>\n<p><em>Joel B.
