Dallas County, Texas, prosecutors have started the first of two trials against Chemirmir, where they are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/06\/30\/illegal-alien-accused-of-murdering-24-senior-citizens-escapes-death-penalty\/\">seeking<\/a> a life sentence.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Chermirmir\u2019s 24 alleged victims include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>83-year-old Leah Corken<\/li>\n<li>82-year-old Juanita Purdy<\/li>\n<li>88-year-old Mary Brooks<\/li>\n<li>84-year-old Minnie Campbell<\/li>\n<li>82-year-old Ann Conklin<\/li>\n<li>75-year-old Rosemary Curtis<\/li>\n<li>85-year-old Norma French<\/li>\n<li>92-year-old Doris Gleason<\/li>\n<li>81-year-old Lu Thi Harris<\/li>\n<li>81-year-old Carolyn MacPhee<\/li>\n<li>81-year-old Miriam Nelson<\/li>\n<li>91-year-old Phyllis Payne<\/li>\n<li>94-year-old Phoebe Perry<\/li>\n<li>80-year-old Martha Williams<\/li>\n<li>82-year-old Joyce Abramowitz<\/li>\n<li>87-year-old Glenna Day<\/li>\n<li>89-year-old Solomon Spring<\/li>\n<li>90-year-old Doris Wasserman<\/li>\n<li>86-year-old Margaret White<\/li>\n<li>79-year-old Diana Delahunty<\/li>\n<li>93-year-old Mamie Dell Miya<\/li>\n<li>86-year-old&nbsp;Catherine Probst Sinclair<\/li>\n<li>90-year-old&nbsp;Marilyn Bixler<\/li>\n<li>An 81-year-old \u201cJane Doe\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the first day of the trial, where prosecutors are hoping to get a conviction against Chemirmir for allegedly murdering Harris and Brooks, the jury was shown the deposition tapes of 91-year-old Mary Bartel.&nbsp;Bartel\u2019s deposition occurred sometime after Chemirmir\u2019s arrest. She has since passed away.<\/p>\n<p>In the tapes, Bartel, a devout Catholic whose husband passed away in 2015, seemingly alleges that Chemirmir broke his way into her apartment on March 19, 2018 \u2014 a day before he allegedly murdered Harris by smothering her with a pillow and robbing her of her jewelry and belongings.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Bartel claims Chemirmir entered her apartment, wearing green gloves, and told her to get on her bed before smothering her with a pillow in an attempt to kill her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe door was opening inward and my eyes were just fixated on these green rubber gloves that I saw. I knew instantly \u2026 my life was in grave danger,\u201d Bartel said. \u201cI tried to push the door shut but my perpetrator was 45 and I\u2019m 91 so I didn\u2019t have any success in pushing the door shut.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe said, \u2018Don\u2019t fight me. Lie on the bed.\u2019 I did as he said because I knew I couldn\u2019t overpower him, physically. She noticed a diamond ring that her husband had given her 50 years ago was gone from her hand. Her engagement and wedding rings were both missing as well.<\/p>\n<p>When she returned to her apartment days later, she noticed four additional pieces of jewelry missing: a gold locket from the Vatican library with her husband\u2019s photo inside, two gold crucifixes, and a silver-plated Swarovski bracelet.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>As detectives were called to the witness stand, they described Chemirmir\u2019s arrest in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/border\/2019\/05\/18\/kenyan-illegal-alien-charged-in-12-texas-homicides\/\">May 2019<\/a>. (Photo via Dallas County District Court)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Soon after Chemirmir\u2019s arrest, Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2019\/05\/28\/accused-illegal-serial-killer-given-green-card-after-overstaying-visa\/\">exclusively reported<\/a> that Chemirmir&nbsp;first arrived in the U.S. on a B-2 tourist visa in July 2003. Though Chemirmir was supposed to only temporarily be in the U.S., he overstayed his visa and became an illegal alien who was eligible for deportation.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than being deported, Chemirmir was able to use a loophole in the nation\u2019s legal immigration system, allowing him to obtain a green card after marrying an American citizen. In November 2007, Chemirmir was approved for a green card.<\/p>\n<p>Chemirmir had a criminal record, Breitbart News exclusively learned, including convictions for drunk driving, trespassing, assault, and obstructing a police officer.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>John Binder is a reporter for Breitbart News.
