He noted that Rittenhouse was trying to flee and was chased and attacked by all three, and that he acted out of the reasonable belief that he would suffer death or gross bodily harm. He also noted that his client, unlike Grosskreutz, willingly gave prosecutors access to his mobile phone, because he had \u201cnothing to hide.\u201d And he added that prosecutors mysteriously failed to execute a search warrant for Huber\u2019s skateboard, with which he hit Rittenhouse.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"8.1904761904762\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">RICHARDS: Kyle Rittenhouse has the right to go unmolested in the city of Kenosha from the likes of Joseph Rosenbaum <\/p>\n<p>OMG<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jacek Posobiec \ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8\ud83c\uddf5\ud83c\uddf1 (@JackPosobiec) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JackPosobiec\/status\/1460350087985512466?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 15, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Several times, Richards also noted that the prosecution had failed to provide any evidence that Rittenhouse was a \u201cwhite supremacist looking for trouble. Nothing. Nothing.\u201d He noted that the jury would have to decide the verdict based on the evidence that had been presented in court, not what was presented to the media in a \u201crush to judgment\u201d the year before.<\/p>\n<p>Then-candidate Joe Biden had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/09\/30\/joe-biden-claims-without-evidence-kyle-rittenhouse-is-a-white-supremacist\/\">called<\/a> Rittenhouse a \u201cwhite supremacist\u201d in September 2020, without evidence. Fox News\u2019 Peter Doocy asked the White House to defend that claim on Monday; press secretary Jen Psaki could not defend the remark but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/15\/white-house-condemns-vigilantes-as-kyle-rittenhouse-trial-wraps-up\/\">said<\/a> that the president remained generally opposed to \u201cvigilantes patrolling our communities with assault weapons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Richards also took on the lesser charges of reckless endangerment, saying that journalist Richie McGinniss, who was nearly wounded in the mel\u00e9e, had rushed toward the violence, and that Rittenhouse\u2019s legitimate self-defense defeated the charges.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>He attacked a key prosecution expert, James Armstrong, who blew up a still image from a video, leading prosecutors to claim that Rittenhouse had pointed a gun at Rosenbaum. \u201cWhat he [Armstrong] did for those twenty hours is hocus pocus, and he makes an exhibit that is out of focus.\u201d He noted that the prosecutor had claimed Kyle was pointing the rifle, which was geared for a right-handed user (such as Rittenhouse), with his left hand. And he cited the defense\u2019s own forensic experts to argue that Rosenbaum had attempted to seize Rittenhouse\u2019s rifle before the defendant had fired it in self-defense.<\/p>\n<p>More than pointing out grounds for reasonable doubt, Richards said, the defense had told its own story, putting Rittenhouse on the stand to present his own first-hand testimony.<\/p>\n<p>He also attacked the prosecution\u2019s attempt to portray Rittenhouse as an outsider, noting that he worked in the community and that his father had lived in Kenosha. \u201cWhen Kenosha burned, people who like Kenosha \u2014 they hurt,\u201d Richards said. He said that if Rittenhouse had come looking for trouble, he would not have volunteered to clean graffiti from buildings vandalized by Black Lives Matter protesters earlier that day.<\/p>\n<p>Richards also recounted his own connections to Kenosha, though he himself lives in Racine, to the north. It was an emotional point in the argument, appealing directly to the jury\u2019s civic pride.<\/p>\n<p>Early on, prosecutor Thomas Binger objected to the claim by Richards that he had \u201clied\u201d in his presentation. Judge Bruce Schroeder allowed the remark to stand, saying that it was part of the argument that the defense was allowed to make.<\/p>\n<p><em>This is a developing story.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Joel B.
