So what can Americans expect in the short term? Is inflation going to get worse before it gets better?\u201d Stephanopoulos asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have to finish the job on COVID. We know that the more that people feel comfortable getting out into the economy, going to movies rather than buying television at home, working in the workplace, the more we can return a sense of normalcy to our economy,\u201d Deese replied, also citing the passage of $1 trillion infrastructure legislation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the first time that a president is actually delivering on a bipartisan infrastructure bill, and while a number of those pieces will be longer term, there are things that will go into effect right away to try to get money out to help. For example, upgrade our ports, upgrade our airports, upgrade our roads.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In another Sunday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/videos\/politics\/2021\/11\/14\/brian-deese-on-inflation.cnn\">interview<\/a> with CNN anchor Jake Tapper, Deese flatly denied that the administration had underestimated the risk of rising price levels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you think that you and the president were wrong and inflation is not a short-term, pop up a little bit and then go back down issue?\u201d Tapper asked.
