After receiving the 911 call, the dispatcher told firefighters twice the resident had a history of hostility towards first responders.<\/p>\n<p>However, the cautionary note applied to a previous tenant of the apartment and was not updated to reflect that new residents occupied the residency, costing firefighters&nbsp;precious minutes, KTTH reports.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, we learned during the most recent emergency response that the cautionary note was for a previous tenant,\u201d a Seattle Fire spokesperson told the Jason Rantz Show on KTTH via email. \u201cWe are carefully reviewing this incident from many angles in our department (operations, dispatch, etc.) and our Premise Notes Policy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The teen called 911 a second time as his father\u2019s condition worsened, and firefighters waited outside of the residence. After waiting seven minutes for officers from when they arrived on the scene due to orders from dispatch, the firefighters cautiously entered the home without police following the second call, according to KTTH.<\/p>\n<p>The firefighters did their best to save the man with the backup aid of an engine of four firefighters that arrived soon after. KTTH reports. Warren)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The teen was brought to the lobby as first responders worked for nearly an hour to resuscitate the 45-year-old man to no avail, a source told KTTH.<\/p>\n<p>Two seasoned medics with knowledge of the situation informed the Jason Rantz Show that the situation was likely avoidable.<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cHad it been addressed early, his chance of survival would have been 60%,\u201d the medic informed KTTH. Moreover, the medic believes the man was suffering from ventricular fibrillation arrest based on specifics of the incident, stating,&nbsp;<\/span><span>\u201cit\u2019s very save-able,\u201d if addressed promptly.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Seattle first responders informed Rantz they believe a staffing problem is to blame for the grievous result:&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"20.86\">\n<p>The prevailing opinion amongst Seattle Fire and SPD is that the current staffing crisis is to blame. It was not the fault of officers that they couldn\u2019t arrive at the scene sooner, they say.<\/p>\n<p>One medic noted to the Jason Rantz Show on KTTH that officers often arrive on scene at the same time as they do \u2014 sometimes earlier. But since the mass exodus of officers accelerated in 2020, after months of abuse from local activists in the aftermath of the George Floyd killing, the situation has deteriorated.<\/p>\n<p>Due to severe staffing shortages, police in the North Precinct \u2014 where the teen and father lived \u2014 are the slowest precinct to respond to 911 calls. According to a city&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/seattle.legistar.com\/View.ashx?M=F&amp;ID=9701832&amp;GUID=0C4F4B62-C970-4959-954E-8032AEF846E1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a>&nbsp;from August 2021, the average response time for priority 1 calls (emergencies in progress) was nearly 13 minutes in Q2 of this year. The average response time for priority 2 calls was an astonishing 61 minutes.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Additionally, Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan\u2019s (D) vaccine mandate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/09\/07\/report-more-than-200-seattle-police-officers-face-firing-over-vaccine-mandate\/\">exacerbated<\/a> the issue KTTH reports, as it removed 100 officers from the line of duty. The department, which had already been amid a staffing crisis, now has under 1000 police officers, according to KTTH.<\/p>\n<p>On November 9, Seattle City Council Member Teresa Mosqueda, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.king5.com\/article\/news\/politics\/seattle-budget-police-cuts\/281-beee84b5-c669-4436-af39-93b9f11a82ac\">serves<\/a> as the budget committee chair, released the city\u2019s revised budget, according to KING-TV.
