Gov.-elect Winsome Sears (R) said on this week\u2019s broadcast of \u201cFox News Sunday\u201d that voters elected her in part because they are tired of politicians who will not let America\u2019s racial wounds heal.<\/p>\n<p>Anchor Chris Wallace asked, \u201cWhat do you think Virginia voters were saying on Election Day when they made you lieutenant governor?\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Sears said, \u201cThey\u2019re tired of the black against white and the Asian against Latino. They\u2019re tired of it, and they\u2019re tired of politicians who won\u2019t let the wounds of the past heal.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>She continued, \u201cNobody is denying that we&nbsp;don\u2019t want to hear all the&nbsp;history. I certainly do not want the&nbsp;sins of the past to be&nbsp;repeated. We don\u2019t have to tear one person&nbsp;down in order to build another&nbsp;up. That is no way to be that is&nbsp;not America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added, \u201cEverything that I\u2019ve had I had to work for, no one gave me&nbsp;anything\u2026In case you haven\u2019t noticed, I am black, and I have been black&nbsp;all my life. That is not what this is about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sears concluded, \u201cSometimes what happens to you&nbsp;is it because you are black or a&nbsp;woman. It is simply life. I mean, some&nbsp;days you are the pigeon, and some&nbsp;days you are the statue.
