So we always hope that\u2019s the way things work, because that\u2019s how you end up with a highly disciplined and well-performing team.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Willink elaborated on humility as a prerequisite virtue for personal progression. He identified its opposite vice \u2014 arrogance \u2014 as a fatal flaw facilitating failure.<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe most important characteristic that I talk about all the time that someone needs to have in order to be successful is humility,\u201d he emphasized. \u201cWhen<\/span><span>&nbsp;we would fire someone from a SEAL leadership position, the reason we would fire that person \u2026 wouldn\u2019t be because they weren\u2019t in good physical condition, or they didn\u2019t know how to shoot their weapon, or they didn\u2019t&nbsp;<\/span><span>know how to read a map. The reason we would fire someone is because they lacked humility.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He continued, \u201cT<span>hink about what that does your mindset. You don\u2019t listen to anybody else; you don\u2019t evolve; you don\u2019t take on any new methodology, and you just underestimate your opponent; you underestimate the enemy; you don\u2019t respect the enemy.
