Frankly, she should have been detained for child endangerment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nearly every word of that is incorrect: Police in Antioch, Illinois, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/kyle-rittenhouse-will-not-face-gun-charges-in-illinois\">said<\/a> the rifle Rittenhouse used \u201cwas purchased, stored and used in Wisconsin\u201d&nbsp;and never crossed state lines. Rittenhouse \u2014 &nbsp;who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/us\/articles\/2021-11-01\/rittenhouse-trial-goes-to-opening-statements-after-jury-set\">worked<\/a> as a lifeguard in Kenosha, where his father lived \u2014 borrowed the weapon from a 19-year-old friend named Dominick Black, whom police have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/nation\/2020\/11\/10\/kyle-rittenhouse-friend-charged-bought-him-gun-kenosha-shooting\/6231407002\/\">charged<\/a> with two counts of giving a dangerous weapon to someone under 18 resulting in death. And the AR-15, which the NRA <a href=\"https:\/\/wskg.org\/uncategorized\/the-most-popular-rifle-in-america-was-used-in-the-countrys-latest-shooting\/\">calls<\/a> \u201cthe most popular rifle in America,\u201d is a semi-automatic rifle; it is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/fact-checking-joe-bidens-gun-control-rhetoric-7-false-claims-the-president-has-made-on-firearms\">usually illegal<\/a> for private citizens to own automatic weapons.<\/p>\n<p>News anchor Jake Tapper later <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/orDMKk8fSe0?t=303\">asked<\/a> Rep. Bass why she believes the Rittenhouse trial is, in her words, \u201cbased in race.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKyle Rittenhouse is a white man who\u2019s accused of shooting three other white men and killing two of them. Explain how you think there\u2019s a racial dimension to this case,\u201d Tapper asked.<\/p>\n<p>Bass replied that she considered the white-on-white violence as racially discriminatory because the shootings took place \u201cat a protest protesting in solidarity for black folks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo me, it was reminiscent of the civil rights movement, when you had young white people that participated in the sit-ins and the protests, and they were subject to beatings. They were subjects to shootings. Many of them were killed, as well. Friendly! Friendly.\u201d Daily Caller reporter Richard McGinnis later testified that Rosenbaum said, \u201cF*** you\u201d to a prone Rittenhouse and reached for the teenager\u2019s AR-15.
