Moms for Liberty is a 501 (c)(4) with chapters across the country that champion&nbsp;\u201cparental rights at all levels of government.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe have an amazing person in our group, she\u2019s our legislation chair, and she got this parental rights bill from Florida. She\u2019s working with some other people. They tweaked it a bit, and we got it sponsored. And now we have a parental rights bill, and we just pray that is passes,\u201d Wood told host&nbsp;Matthew Boyle, Breitbart News\u2019s Washington bureau chief. \u201cWe\u2019re definitely making an impact \u2026 in a short amount of time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The legislation, sponsored by state Reps.&nbsp;Robert May, III. (R), Mike Burns (R), and Anne Thayer (R), would \u201cprohibit certain government infringement on the fundamental rights of parents to direct the upbringing, education, health care, and mental health care of their children except in limited circumstances\u201d and seeks to increase the age of consent for minors to certain health care services to 18 instead of 16. The bill also emphasizes the rights of parents to know and have input about what their children are learning and to work with teachers and school officials on how to best approach their child\u2019s education.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>LISTEN:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe have a right to ask what the teacher\u2019s lesson plan is like. What are you teaching? Where are you getting your resources from? You know, parents are the number one stakeholder in their children\u2019s education,\u201d Dixon said.<\/p>\n<p>For now, Wood and Dixon rely on other parents to tell them about what is going on in their children\u2019s schools. When parents send examples of Critical Race Theory, social-emotional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/03\/09\/social-emotional-learning-now-a-vehicle-for-critical-race-theory\/\">learning<\/a>, and sexually explicit reading materials \u2014 something they said they are seeing \u201call the time\u201d \u2014 they inform state legislators and school board members who then reportedly investigate the claims.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut this information goes all the way up to the governor as well, so that\u2019s how we\u2019re doing it because we have to bring awareness to our legislators and our governor [who] can do something about it \u2014 which why we really hope the parental rights bill gets passed next year,<span>\u201d Wood said.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Dixon spoke about the misconception that Critical Race Theory (CRT) is not taught in schools, a claim often trotted out by leftist&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/03\/critical-race-theory-top-issue-virginia-election-democrats-insist-isnt-real\/\">media<\/a>&nbsp;and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/clips\/2021\/11\/04\/dem-rep-cohen-crt-isnt-taught-in-va-schools-youngkin-created-issue-to-appeal-to-racial-animus\/\">politicians<\/a>. Democrats particularly toted the line after Glenn Youngkin\u2019s victory in Virginia\u2019s governor race. Youngkin largely campaigned on fighting Critical Race Theory in schools. Several <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/radio\/2021\/10\/20\/parents-advocate-loudoun-county-school-board-ignored-allegations-of-sodomy-forced-fellatio-sexual-assault-of-9th-grade-girl\/\">scandals<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2021\/08\/11\/loudoun-county-teacher-resigns-over-districts-highly-politicized-critical-race-theory-agendas\/\">Loudoun County<\/a> specifically brought attention to the issue on a national level, with parents turning up in droves to vote for Youngkin and against Democrat Terry McAuliffe, who simultaneously has a history of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/15\/report-virginia-dept-of-education-told-schools-to-embrace-critical-race-theory-while-terry-mcauliffe-was-governor\/\"> supporting<\/a> CRT, all while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/clips\/2021\/10\/10\/mcauliffe-critical-race-theory-is-a-dog-whistle-made-up-by-trump\/\">pretending<\/a> it is not real.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_17048030\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"36\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/GettyImages-1233450533.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-17048030\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/GettyImages-1233450533.jpg\" alt=\"People talk before the start of a rally against &quot;critical race theory&quot; (CRT) being taught in schools at the Loudoun County Government center in Leesburg, Virginia on June 12, 2021. - &quot;Are you ready to take back our schools?&quot; Republican activist Patti Menders shouted at a rally opposing anti-racism teaching that critics like her say trains white children to see themselves as &quot;oppressors.&quot; &quot;Yes!&quot;, answered in unison the hundreds of demonstrators gathered this weekend near Washington to fight against &quot;critical race theory,&quot; the latest battleground of America&#039;s ongoing culture wars. But we have found is, we have to stop thinking of the critical theory as a curriculum because it\u2019s not that \u2014 it\u2019s a worldview, it\u2019s an ideology \u2014 the same as strongly held religious beliefs would be,\u201d Dixon said.&nbsp;\u201cTeachers today, are indoctrinated into this critical world view in the colleges and universities. And they say it\u2019s not in the official curriculum. We do know that the teachers\u2019 unions and groups like we have in South Carolina \u2026 they send teachers for training. They give them free materials, and we don\u2019t have the oversight as to the ancillary materials that can come into the classroom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But in spite of the heated national debate surrounding leftist indoctrination of K-12 students, both Dixon and Wood said communication and respect, especially in interacting with school boards, are key in furthering productive change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou don\u2019t have to look at them [the school board] as the enemy, but if you start a dialogue, you educate people. As you learn from each other, and you ask questions from your teacher \u2014 we don\u2019t have to become enemies. We can become partners when we communicate. And there are people who do have an agenda, and they\u2019re at high levels, like in our federal department of education and our state department of education,\u201d Dixon said. \u201cBut you know what\u2019s happening, we\u2019re shining a light. And you know what happens when you shine a light? The evildoers with bad motives, they\u2019re going to run, they\u2019re going to hide, or they\u2019re going to gaslight you. Stand firm, keep educating yourself, and don\u2019t back down.
