This comes as more than 900,000 children ages 5-11 are expected to receive their first dose of the vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>Demonstrators called the move to vaccinate children premature, indicating researchers need to study the long-term impact the vaccine has on younger people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s also been a lot of surveys that say that up to 90 percent of parents out there are going to never give their kids the vaccine and they\u2019re going to wait and see,\u201d said retired nurse Carol Lukasik. \u201cWhen they say they\u2019re going to wait and see, they\u2019re looking at those million children that got vaccinated this week to see if they\u2019re going to be permanently hurt or die.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the White House expects 15 million doses specifically formulated for children to be available this week.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective\u2014and the best way to protect our kids.
