as President Biden himself <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2021\/11\/01\/remarks-by-president-biden-at-the-cop26-leaders-statement\/\">said<\/a> in Glasgow on November 1, the U.S. will commit to 50-52 percent reductions in CO2 from 2005 levels by the year 2030. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Biden further pledged a \u201cnet-zero emissions economy\u201d by no later than 2050.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>These promises, Biden added, \u201cwill demonstrate to the world\u201d that the U.S. is \u201cnot only back at the table\u201d but will \u201chopefully lead by the power of our example.\u201d And as we have already seen, the Biden administration is fully intent on \u201cleading\u201d by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tag\/keystone-pipeline\/\">shutting down<\/a>, as best it can, American carbon-energy supplies.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>But here\u2019s a question: <i>Which<\/i> countries will be led \u201cby the power of our example\u201d on downward CO2?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>The countries that emit the most CO2 and that are still planning to emit <i>more<\/i>?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>Or the countries that are already reducing their CO2?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>As a matter of climate mathematics, it\u2019s obvious that if the countries that emit the most continue to emit\u2014and even grow to emit even more\u2014then it doesn\u2019t really matter what the reduction-minded countries do.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_18738450\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" readability=\"36\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18738450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/GettyImages-1236271500.jpg\" alt width=\"1920\" height=\"1280\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">British Prime Minister Boris Johnson (L) and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres (R) greet U.S. President Joe Biden as they arrive for day two of COP26 at SECC on November 1, 2021 in Glasgow, Scotland. (Christopher Furlong\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>If the real goal is to cut CO2, then it would be obvious that the big emitters\u2014and even bigger <i>future<\/i> emitters\u2014should be called out.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>Yet that didn\u2019t happen, because that\u2019s not how the COP process works. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>You see, COP\u2014the first Conference of the Parties was held in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_Nations_Climate_Change_conference#1995:_COP_1,_Berlin,_Germany\">Berlin in 1995<\/a>\u2013is really about two things: first, <i>the guilt feelings of<\/i> Westerners;<i>&nbsp;<\/i>and second, <i>the Great Reset<\/i>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>(Breitbart News has lovingly\u2014okay, <i>not<\/i> so lovingly\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tag\/the-great-reset\/\">chronicled<\/a> this Great Reset, first conceived by the founder of the World Economic Forum, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/\">Klaus Schwab<\/a>, the reigning King of Davos.)<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>These two thoughts\u2014feeling guilty about the last three centuries of Western economic growth, and the desire to Reset the West along progressive lines\u2014are combined in the person of John Kerry, the Biden administration\u2019s climate envoy. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In fact, to say that Kerry is an <i>envoy<\/i> is to drastically understate his power.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Being a green billionaire himself (he married well), Kerry represents the interests of the entire green-billionaire donor class, which is the greatest single power in today\u2019s Democratic Party.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>So if you ever wonder why Middle Class Joe let himself get talked into all this green stuff, it\u2019s because, in many ways, Upper Class John outranks him. It focuses on the alleged sins of the West (defined as the U.S. the European Union, and a handful of other countries whose leaders think along the same liberal lines\u2014at least for now) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/climate-environment\/interactive\/2021\/greenhouse-gas-emissions-pledges-data\/?utm_source=email&amp;utm_medium=acq-nat&amp;utm_campaign=eng-cop26-2021&amp;utm_content=climate-flaweddata\">ignores<\/a> the violations of everyone else.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>As a result, COP is a hammer with which to clobber the <i>real<\/i> enemy: the American middle class, including, of course, all those Trumpy Deplorables.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>So when the Biden administration dismisses concerns about inflation or shortages, please know that it\u2019s really all part of a plan\u2014a plan to get Americans used to having less.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>That\u2019s the Great Reset as it applies to Main Street; John Kerry\u2019s favorite summer haunt, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.townandcountrymag.com\/leisure\/real-estate\/a9571432\/john-kerry-marthas-vineyard\/\">Martha\u2019s Vineyard<\/a> is, of course, a different story.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In pursuit of this Resetting, the West will spend trillions to further reduce its already falling CO2 emissions, while the rest of the world will do little or nothing, except maybe collect still more trillions in special climate aid.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>To illustrate, let\u2019s take a closer look at the climate math.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>The U.S. and the European Union account for about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldometers.info\/co2-emissions\/co2-emissions-by-country\/\">32 percent<\/a> of world CO2.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>If we add a few other \u201cWestern\u201d countries, such as Canada and Japan, we get up to perhaps 40 percent of planetary emissions.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>Interestingly, for these countries, CO2 emissions are actually <i>falling<\/i>.&nbsp;The U.S., for example, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/183943\/us-carbon-dioxide-emissions-from-1999\/\">emits<\/a> less CO2 today than it did in 1985.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In other words, the countries that are ruled by leaders who are \u201cinto\u201d COP 26, and the climate change issue overall, account for about <i>two-fifths<\/i> of world CO2 emissions. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Okay, so now to the other countries of the world, which account for <i>three-fifths<\/i> of world CO2 emissions.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>The biggest of these emitters, of course, is the People\u2019s Republic of China, which by itself accounts for more than a quarter of planetary CO2\u2014a full 29 percent.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span><\/p>\n<p>For decades now, the Chinese have been building thousands of coal plants. In fact, Chinese coal plants built in 2020 alone will generate more than <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1W3pt5FhqitHwbVWvvgfRr0S6QfqfOuea9pt3-Mlxp5M\/edit#gid=1682876416\">41 megawatts<\/a> of electricity.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>In addition, China has financed more than <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cgef\/#\/all\/Country\/Global\">$127 billion<\/a> in carbon-based energy projects around the world, including more than $50 billion in coal projects.<\/p>\n<p>In the crisp <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/elites-are-using-climate-hysteria-immiserate-working-class-opinion-1643962%20https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/elites-are-using-climate-hysteria-immiserate-working-class-opinion-1643962\">words<\/a> of the American economist and demographer Joel Kotkin, \u201cIn contrast to the elites in the West, China\u2019s strategy is shaped by self-interest, not guilt.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_18738346\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" readability=\"36\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18738346\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/GettyImages-625667928.jpg\" alt width=\"1920\" height=\"1288\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Smoke billows from a large steel plant on November 4, 2016, in Inner Mongolia, China. <\/span>Why?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>Because that\u2019s the way to grow, that\u2019s why.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>Having seen greens in action in the West, shutting down factories and the like, other people around the world can hardly be expected to trust them greens with <i>their<\/i> livelihoods.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This is the basic asymmetry in the world: Liberal elites in Western countries feel guilty and want to Reset, while everyone else feels fine and wants to keep growing and emitting.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>So will any of this change after COP 26?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>In a word, <i>no<\/i>. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Agreeing to Not Agree<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s true that on November 10, the U.S. and China reached their own one-on-one agreement in Glasgow.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>Yet upon inspection\u2014even by the admiring eyes of the Main Stream Media\u2014it is revealed to be nothing more than a <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paper_tiger\">paper tiger.<\/a> <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>To be sure, <i>The New York Times<\/i> did its best to gussy up the agreement (Kerry has always been a favorite of the <i>Times<\/i>, as he so perfectly epitomizes its snobby liberal values).<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>Thus the <i>Times<\/i> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/11\/10\/climate\/climate-cop26-glasgow.html\">headline<\/a> trilled \u201cChina and the United States Agree to Work Together to Tackle Climate Change.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>Okay, so that\u2019s pretty good: Kerry\u2019s comms team will be sure to include that header in their p.r. kit when they apply for their man\u2019s Nobel Peace Prize.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Still, the <i>Times<\/i> is enough of a newspaper to notice when the actual news doesn\u2019t fit the progressive dream-scheme.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>And so then came the sub-headline, which was a bit of a downer: \u201cAs nearly 200 nations struggle over global climate negotiations, the world\u2019s two biggest polluters sign an agreement, but it was short on details.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>We can pause over those last words, <i>short on details.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/i>As we all know, if a deal is short on details, <i>it\u2019s not much of a deal.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p>For his part, Kerry was exultant, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/11\/11\/1054615021\/at-the-u-n-climate-talks-china-and-the-u-s-pledge-to-increase-cooperation\">declaring grandly<\/a>, \u201cOn climate, cooperation is the only way to get this job done.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>Yet tellingly, the Chinese envoy, Xie Zhenhua, would only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.state.gov\/u-s-china-joint-glasgow-declaration-on-enhancing-climate-action-in-the-2020s\/\">commit<\/a> to \u201cenhancing climate action.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>Whatever that means.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>To help things along perceptually, at least on the Western side, the <i>Times<\/i> article trotted some favored go-to experts, one of whom said cheerfully of the communique, \u201cIt means the intense level of U.S.-China dialogue on climate can now begin to translate into cooperation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yet even the <i>Times<\/i>, which has been front-paging doom-pieces on climate change for more than three decades (back in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/1988\/06\/24\/us\/global-warming-has-begun-expert-tells-senate.html\">1988<\/a>, it was called \u201cglobal warming\u201d), had to admit:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"12\">\n<p>The joint agreement was short on specifics.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>It did not extract a new timetable from China under which the country would ratchet down emissions, nor did China set a ceiling for how high its carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases would reach before they started to fall.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>China agreed to \u201cphase down\u201d coal, the dirtiest fossil fuel, starting in 2026, but did not specify by how much or over what period of time.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Other MSM outlets had the same reaction; that is, once you get past the platitudes, there\u2019s not much there.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>Here\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/newsletters\/axios-thought-bubble-17a2bf6e-6651-4f26-959f-ead0484aef83.html?utm_source=newsletter&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=thought-bubble-ampm&amp;stream=top\"><i>Axios<\/i><\/a>: \u201cThe agreement is long on ambition and short on specifics, with mentions of a working group and cooperation in areas like renewable energy and clean tech.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>We can add that \u201cworking groups,\u201d stretching out over the years, are good work for the permanent floating crap game of handsomely expense-accounted COP-ocrats.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The<i> Washington Post<\/i>\u2019s foreign policy columnist Fareed Zakaria <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2021\/11\/11\/united-states-china-climate-agreement-challenges-competition\/\">observed<\/a> that the agreement was \u201ca very small step.\u201d He added, \u201cIt did not have the kinds of specific targets that marked the 2014 agreement negotiated by the Obama administration that preceded the Paris accords.\u201d <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>In other words, this latest \u201cdeal\u201d is less of a deal than was reached <i>seven years ago<\/i>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>So much for urgency!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>So, to sum this up: In Glasgow, the People\u2019s Republic of China committed to nothing.<i> <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">Even on&nbsp;coal, China committed merely to \u201cphase down\u201d its coal, with no real timetable associated with that phase-down. &nbsp;In other words, for a good long time at least, the PRC will be&nbsp;powering its industry\u2013including its breakneck <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/11\/chinas-nuclear-arsenal-is-growing-what-does-that-mean-us-china-relations\/\">nuclear weapons production<\/a>\u2013with the cheapest possible fuel, namely coal.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">It\u2019s the Chinese military threat that the U.S. should be worried about, and yet as Kerry has said, as far as the Biden administration is concerned, a \u201cdeal\u2019 on climate&nbsp;change is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-asia-58427519\">more important<\/a> than anything else.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Besides, in the meantime,&nbsp;Kerry and the COP-sters find themselves in other disputes, which will prove even more costly for . . . guess who.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_18738482\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" readability=\"39\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18738482\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/GettyImages-490009808.jpg\" alt width=\"1920\" height=\"1177\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping, and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry make a toast during a State Luncheon for China hosted by Kerry on September 25, 2015, in Washington, DC. RICHARDS\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>The Rumble with the Rest of the World<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Beyond China, there\u2019re all the other countries\u2014the world\u2019s total population is almost 7.8 billion.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>Not surprisingly, all those people have their own views, which don\u2019t much align with those of Kerry and his fellow fatcat Resetters.<\/p>\n<p>A <i>Politico<\/i> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2021\/11\/11\/us-europe-climate-pledges-developing-countries-520968\">headline<\/a> sets the stage: \u201cEmerging economies spar with U.S. over \u2018carbon colonialism.\u2019\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>It seems that a bloc of 24 counties\u2014including China, India, and Saudi Arabia\u2014are backlashing against \u201ccolonial\u201d pressure from the West. These angry countries want <a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatechangenews.com\/2021\/11\/08\/developing-countries-put-number-post-2025-climate-finance-needs-1-3trn-year\/\">$1.3 trillion<\/a> a year.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>And by the way: Did you catch that <i>China<\/i> is on that list of countries demanding that annual $1.3 trillion?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>China is a rich country, and yet when the gravy is training, it pretends to be an \u201cemerging\u201d country.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; It\u2019s easy to see a scenario where the coal-burning Chinese are rewarded by the West for saying that they\u2019ll lay off the coal&nbsp;<em>someday<\/em>. <\/span>And did we mention that there are 197 countries at COP?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span><\/p>\n<p>So, if the outstretched palms of the first 24 countries get greased, it\u2019s a cinch there will be a lot more hands out.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Kerry Theory<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Kerry-Biden administration is operating on the theory that it <i>knows<\/i> what\u2019s best: the Great Reset.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>And the Kerryites further know that the U.S. is full of Deplorables, who deserve some punishing Resetting.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i>That\u2019s<\/i> what COP 26 is all about.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Indeed, we can already see the Reset in action, starting with higher gas prices.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>Yes, higher costs at the pump are a pain for ordinary Americans, but ask yourself: When\u2019s the last time that Kerry filled up his own tank?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Following the Kerry Theory, White House press secretary Jen Psaki has taken to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/07\/white-house-we-want-keep-gas-prices-low-climate-crisis-cant-wait\/\">highlighting<\/a> the upside of high gas prices\u2014namely, pushing along the Great Reset.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>On October 7, she said, \u201cCertainly, we all want to keep gasoline prices low, but the threat of the crisis\u2014the climate crisis\u2014certainly can\u2019t wait any longer.\u201d <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>And here\u2019s Rep. Pramila Jayapal, speaking for hard greens in her hometown of Seattle and everywhere else, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/clips\/2021\/11\/11\/jayapal-we-dont-have-to-reduce-gas-prices-we-can-lower-other-costs-with-spending-bill\/\">telling<\/a> Americans to hush up about high gas prices because they are needed as part of the \u201ctransition\u201d to green energy.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>Besides, Jayapal promised, the multi-trillion-dollar Build Back Better plan will reduce <i>other<\/i> prices.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>You believe that don\u2019t you?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>Don\u2019t you? <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>All this spinning aside, the Great Reset is clearly <i>not<\/i> good politics.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>As the recent election results show, most Americans would like to be just left alone, not hectored by the greens\u2019 woke allies, and Middle Americans certainly don\u2019t want to see a decline in their living standard.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>And so the idea that green billionaires such as Kerry\u2014and mere millionaires, such as Biden\u2014would seek to tell them what to do all for the sake of some avant-garde theory is, well, infuriating to ordinary folks who <i>vote<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>So why are Kerry &amp; Co. so adamant about the Great Reset?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>Because they <i>believe<\/i> in it. To them, it\u2019s the right thing to do\u2013why, some say it\u2019s even a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenewatlantis.com\/publications\/environmentalism-as-religion\">religion<\/a>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;For true believers, deep faith is a lot<\/span>&nbsp;more important to than winning elections. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>To be sure, such an aloof attitude doesn\u2019t do Joe Biden any good, as he faces an election in less than three years.
