Murphy earlier today and congratulated him on his reelection and wished him well on serving the people of New Jersey,\u201d Ciattarelli <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/states\/new-jersey\/story\/2021\/11\/12\/ciattarelli-concedes-in-nj-governors-race-vows-to-run-again-in-2025-1393017\">said<\/a>, making the announcement in Raritan, NJ.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were those who thought I couldn\u2019t win, there were those who told me I wouldn\u2019t win. Fact is, we almost did win,\u201d he added.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe sent a powerful message to Trenton and although it was never my intention, we sent a very powerful message to the nation,\u201d Ciattarelli <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/new-jersey-ciattarelli-concedes-vows-to-run-again-in-four-years\">noted<\/a>. \u201cOur message is simple: We\u2019re tired of hyper partisanship, tired of divisiveness, tired of tone deafness, tired of dismissing citizens\u2019 real concerns.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Murphy, the first Democrat incumbent to be reelected as governor in years, was expected to defeat his Republican challenger handily, but the final margin was tighter than what many predicted. Murphy was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/live-election-results-race-for-nj-governor-2021.html\">declared<\/a> the victor with 51% of the vote, while Ciattarelli took about 48%.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo those who are disappointed that I\u2019m conceding, to those whose faith in our election system is shaken, to those who are angry that I\u2019m not asking for a recount today, let me say this: I\u2019ve worked every day and night for 22 months to become New Jersey\u2019s governor,\u201d he said, \u201cIf you think I\u2019d be standing here today conceding if I thought I\u2019d won this election, you couldn\u2019t be more wrong. I hate to lose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although he criticized the vote-counting process, he acknowledged that he had no proof of \u201cwidespread voter fraud.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSadly in our current climate, that slow count and constantly changing online numbers gives rise to doubt in the system and unfounded conspiracy theories.
