President Joe Biden also recently instructed the Federal Trade Commission to investigate price gouging by gasoline providers, Psaki said. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/05\/jennifer-granholm-energy-department-gasoline-prices-opec\/\">(RELATED: \u2018That Is Hilarious\u2019: Energy Secretary Cackles When Asked About Rising Gasoline Prices)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Gasoline prices have surged to their highest level since 2014, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eia.gov\/petroleum\/gasdiesel\/\">according<\/a> to the Energy Information Administration. The average cost at the pump reached $3.42 per gallon Friday, up nearly 61% compared to a year ago, a AAA database <a href=\"https:\/\/gasprices.aaa.com\/\">showed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans have <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/27\/energy-prices-gasoline-republicans-kevin-mccarthy-democrats-oil-gas-joe-biden\/\">blamed<\/a> Biden\u2019s energy and climate <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/15\/house-republicans-joe-biden-administration-jennifer-granholm-energy-crisis\/\">policies<\/a> for surging gasoline prices and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/14\/energy-expenditure-increase-inflation-biden-admin\/\">projected heating cost increases<\/a>. Bob Latta, a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, told the Daily Caller News Foundation in an interview.<\/p>\n<p>Latta \u2014 who <a href=\"https:\/\/latta.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=402488\">wrote a letter<\/a> to the White House opposing the closure of Line 5 on Nov. 4 \u2014 also criticized Biden for <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/25\/russia-natural-gas-exports-weapon-nord-stream-2-joe-biden-white-house\/\">green lighting a Russian pipeline<\/a> transporting natural gas to Germany while axing domestic pipelines. He added that the U.S. has <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/30\/united-states-paris-accords-donald-trump-joe-biden-emissions\/\">reduced emissions<\/a> more than any other country over the last decade.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have a district that has about 86,000 manufacturing jobs.
