The claim stems from an article that says it \u201ccontains humor, parody, and satire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Newsom stayed out of the public eye for nearly two weeks after receiving his COVID-19 booster shot on Oct. 27, which prompted social media speculation about his absence, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2021-11-09\/newsom-sudden-pause-on-public-events-sparks-social-media-speculation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Los Angeles Times<\/a>. A Nov. 8 Facebook post links to an article titled \u201cMilitary Arrests Bedridden Gavin Newsom.\u201d The article claims the governor was arrested on Nov. 1 after he supposedly became ill from his COVID-19 booster shot.<\/p>\n<p>There is, however, no evidence that Newsom was arrested by the military. Check Your Fact searched the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/search.usa.gov\/search?query=gavin%20newsom%20arrested&amp;affiliate=defensegov&amp;utf8=%26%23x2713%3B\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Defense Department<\/a> and&nbsp;the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/newsroom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">California Governor\u2019s office<\/a>, but found no press releases discussing Newsom\u2019s alleged arrest. Had he been arrested, news outlets certainly would have reported on it, yet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=military+arrest+gavin+newsom&amp;source=lnms&amp;tbm=nws&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=2ahUKEwjKybiI05P0AhWqUt8KHalzBnYQ_AUoAXoECAEQAw&amp;biw=1920&amp;bih=911&amp;dpr=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">none have<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The verified Office of the Governor of California Twitter account posted a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CAgovernor\/status\/1456325241731387397?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">video<\/a> on Nov. 4, three days after Newsom\u2019s supposed arrest, of Newsom talking about Diwali. Newsom also appeared at artist and model Ivy Love Getty\u2019s Nov. 6 wedding, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/slideshow\/inside-ivy-getty-wedding-weekend-in-san-francisco\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vogue<\/a>. Furthermore, Newsom participated in an economic summit on Nov. 9, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2021-11-09\/newsom-sudden-pause-on-public-events-sparks-social-media-speculation\">The Los Angeles Times<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/realrawnews.com\/2021\/11\/military-arrests-bedridden-gavin-newsom\/?fbclid=IwAR3Iw6re3tyfJKlK9NMBKcVSTd4CkE_Ab8aBypDsLfZLrHwoZkKBI5TE4tc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">article<\/a> appears to have been lifted from Real Raw News, a website that includes a <a href=\"https:\/\/realrawnews.com\/about-us\/\">disclaimer<\/a> stating it contains \u201chumor, parody, and satire.\u201d While Real Raw News includes a warning about the satirical nature of its content, the article in the Facebook post does not, seemingly passing the information off as genuine. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/08\/05\/fact-check-california-mail-ballots-recall-election-delta-variant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Image Claims California Is Sending Mail-In Ballots To Voters For Gavin Newsom\u2019s Recall Election Due To The Delta Variant)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check Your Fact has previously debunked viral claims of prominent figures allegedly being arrested by the military originating from Real Raw News articles.
