The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) will discuss revoking the pipeline\u2019s permit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferc.gov\/media\/sunshine-notice-4\">during a Nov. 18 hearing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe STL Pipeline was built to support your energy needs, along with those of more than 650,000 homes and businesses in the St. Louis region,\u201d Spire President Scott Carter wrote in the email. \u201cSince 2019, this safe, fully operational pipeline has been bringing even more reliable and affordable natural gas to our community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, while the STL Pipeline continues to operate today, it is now in jeopardy,\u201d the email continued. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/08\/joe-biden-administration-pipeline-michigan-energy-midwest-line-5\/\">(RELATED: Biden Mulls Shutting Down Pipeline That Supplies Energy To Midwest)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The pipeline, which travels from Illinois to Missouri, received FERC approval in 2018 and began servicing customers in 2019, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spireenergy.com\/spire-stl-pipeline\/project-history#projecttimeline\">according<\/a> to Spire. Shortly after the pipeline came online, the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edf.org\/media\/edf-sues-ferc-over-approval-spire-stl-pipeline\">sued<\/a> the FERC over its approval.<\/p>\n<p>In June, a federal appellate court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edf.org\/sites\/default\/files\/press-releases\/2021-06-21_EDFvFERC_SpirePipelineDecision.pdf\">ruled in favor<\/a> of the EDF, saying FERC didn\u2019t adequately analyze the pipeline\u2019s permit request years prior. The ruling prompted the current review.<\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Spire STL pipeline\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iJMsTy77PmI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>EDF, meanwhile, alleged that Spire was fear-mongering to its customers by warning of blackouts. But Carter held a press conference Thursday, reiterating the threat posed by the FERC review, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stltoday.com\/business\/local\/spire-denies-fearmongering-amid-outcries-over-pipeline-shutdown\/article_6afa5307-6fa7-5583-8a2b-06344c480eb4.html\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur commitment has been to remain informative,\u201d Carter told reporters, rebutting fear-mongering accusations, according to the Dispatch. \u201cWe\u2019ve continued to highlight the importance of the pipeline.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t want to alarm customers, but we want to be transparent with everyone about the energy they rely on,\u201d Carter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ksdk.com\/article\/news\/local\/spire-stl-pipeline-ferc-agenda\/63-17959bc4-7cdd-44a9-ae0f-5158c31cf0f1\">added<\/a> in an email to NBC affiliate KSDK-TV. \u201cCustomers need to know that without the STL Pipeline in service during winter weather, the possibility of service disruptions and outages throughout the St. Louis area is very real.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The STL Pipeline is allowed to continue operating until mid-December pending FERC\u2019s decision, KSDK reported.<\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden has taken a hard anti-fossil fuel stance as part of his aggressive climate agenda since taking office. The White House <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/17\/joe-biden-keystone-xl-pipeline-montana\/\">revoked<\/a> the Keystone XL pipeline permit, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/20\/joe-biden-administration-interior-department-alaska-oil-drilling-energy-prices\/\">ditched<\/a> an oil drilling project in Alaska and recently <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/08\/joe-biden-administration-pipeline-michigan-energy-midwest-line-5\/\">confirmed<\/a> it was reviewing the possibility of shutting down a Michigan pipeline supplying much of the Midwest.<\/p>\n<p>In January, Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferc.gov\/news-events\/news\/president-biden-names-glick-chairman-ferc\">appointed<\/a> Rich Glick to chair FERC.
