Disney shares plunged as much as 8 percent on Thursday following the announcement but have since recovered some of their losses.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The bad news has prompted Disney to cut prices. The company is offering a promotional one-month subscription for just $1.99, and launched a publicity blitz on Friday \u2014 \u201cDisney+ Day\u201d \u2014 to promote new and upcoming streaming titles, including the movie sequel&nbsp;<em>Hocus Pocus 2<\/em> starring Bette Midler and a series based on <em>The Spiderwick Chronicles.<\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Disney+ has released some popular hits including <em>The Mandalorian<\/em> and <em>WandaVision<\/em>. But consumers have been turned off by the streaming service\u2019s embrace of wokeness and left-wing politics. Disney+ is the home of the <em>Fauci<\/em> documentary, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2021\/10\/09\/fauci-documentary-filmmakers-wont-comment-on-wuhan-lab-bombshell-report\/\">paints<\/a> a glowing picture of Dr. Anthony Fauci and even attempts to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2021\/10\/07\/disneys-fauci-doc-shields-china-blaming-communist-regime-for-pandemic-like-blaming-gays-for-aids\/\">absolve<\/a> China of its responsibility in the global coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201ckid-friendly\u201d service also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2021\/06\/17\/disney-hosting-lgbtq-pride-concert-aimed-at-children-starring-drag-queen-nina-west\/\">hosted<\/a> an LGBTQ Pride concert&nbsp;this year starring drag queen Nina West, with performances of popular Disney songs re-imagined with LGBTQ themes.<\/p>\n<p>Like many Hollywood studios, Disney is betting big on streaming, hoping subscription dollars will propel corporate growth into the foreseeable future.&nbsp;Disney CEO Bob Chapek expects Disney+ to reach&nbsp;230 million to 260 million subscribers by 2024.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the Disney+ subscription miss, the company also missed earnings and revenue estimates for the fiscal fourth quarter, helping to push the stock lower.<\/p>\n<p>Disney stock is now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/11\/11\/disney-stock-has-worst-day-since-june-2020-traders-on-its-next-move.html\">trading<\/a> in bear territory, having fallen&nbsp;20 percent from its March peak, according to a report from CNBC.
