But it never cited any racial bias by Rittenhouse \u2014 not even when Rittenhouse took the stand in his own defense, an extremely rare thing for a defendant to do in a murder case.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>To the extent that it brought up political bias of any kind, it tried to do so in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/law-and-order\/2021\/11\/11\/witness-rittenhouse-tried-to-de-escalate-riot-not-cause-violence\/\">cross-examining<\/a> defense witness Drew Hernandez, suggesting he had a negative view of protests \u201cthat you call riots.\u201d (The judge rebuked the prosecution for those questions.)<\/p>\n<p>The issue of Rittenhouse\u2019s alleged \u201cwhite supremacist\u201d leanings emerged in the aftermath of the Aug. 25, 2020 incident, when Democrats and the media claimed that the teenager was a racist who had committed \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2020\/09\/02\/facebook-declares-kyle-rittenhouses-actions-a-mass-murder-wont-allow-posts-in-support\/\">mass murder<\/a>\u201d for that reason.<\/p>\n<p>As Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/09\/30\/joe-biden-claims-without-evidence-kyle-rittenhouse-is-a-white-supremacist\/\">reported<\/a> in 2020, then-candidate Joe Biden claimed that Rittenhouse was a \u201cwhite supremacist\u201d:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote readability=\"16\">\n<p>Former Vice President Joe Biden tweeted a video Wednesday in which he depicted Kyle Rittenhouse \u2014 the 17-year-old who shot and killed two left-wing rioters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, last month \u2014 as a white supremacist, without any evidence.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Biden included footage of white supremacists in Charlottesville, Virginia \u2014 whom he has falsely accused Trump of calling \u201cvery fine people\u201d \u2014 and other extremists. But among those images, he included a still photograph of Rittenhouse.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Rittenhouse\u2019s mother, Wendy Rittenhouse, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/12\/kyle-rittenhouse-mom-blasts-biden-for-defaming-son-as-white-supremacist\/\">told<\/a> Fox News\u2019&nbsp;<em>Hannity<\/em> on Thursday that President Biden had \u201cdefamed\u201d her son.<\/p>\n<p>The only evidence of racial bias came with regard to a member of the jury, who was dismissed after making an allegedly racist joke about Jacob Blake Jr., the young man shot and wounded by police on Aug. 23, 2020, in an incident that triggered the rioting in Kenosha. The prosecution <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/11\/04\/1052353703\/kyle-rittenhouse-trial-juror-dismissed-for-joke-about-jacob-blake\">claimed<\/a> that the joke was racist.<\/p>\n<p>As National Public Radio <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/11\/04\/1052353703\/kyle-rittenhouse-trial-juror-dismissed-for-joke-about-jacob-blake\">reported<\/a>:&nbsp;\u201cIt was my understanding [the joke] was something along the lines of, \u2018Why did the Kenosha police shoot Jacob Blake seven times?&#8217;\u201d said prosecutor Thomas Binger. \u201cIt\u2019s my understanding that the rest of the joke is: \u2018Because they ran out of bullets.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The only racist language mentioned was used by alleged victim Joseph Rosenbaum, who, according to the testimony of several witnesses, used the \u201cN-word\u201d before charging Rittenhouse. All three alleged victims of the shootings were white.<\/p>\n<p><em>Joel B.
