He was then told by the district\u2019s County Director Cheryl Cole, Assistant Principal Drew Campbell, and Principal Katina Simmons that he was being fired.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThey talked about how people had called the school board and that the girls felt uncomfortable with a male coach and the community wanted a woman in that position. It hadn\u2019t been a problem for five years,\u201d Sapp reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen they said they think a woman should be in that position, I told them that it was sexist and it was wrong,\u201d Sapp added.<\/p>\n<p>The district seemed oddly unprepared to follow up on Sapp\u2019s firing, though, as no replacement had been hired for a new season that is supposed to start only a week away on Nov. 18.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"10.604651162791\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;It was sexist and it was wrong.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Van Buren Co. made the decision to part ways with &#8217;20-21 District 5A coach of the year Tyler Sapp less than a year after he led the program to a 24-3 record.
