Sources speaking to the media at the time said that some of the claims being used to avoid deportation included one who claimed he would face reprisals in his home country because he was gay, others that it would be an infringement of their human rights to be separated from their families, and another claimed he would be enslaved if he went home.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"8.3982683982684\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Immigration judges have restored the British citizenship of three British-Bangladeshi Islamic State defectors, one of whom was not even born in the country. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/uJ09DDqagL\">https:\/\/t.co\/uJ09DDqagL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1373383545784270848?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 20, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Patel said: \u201cThe people removed to Jamaica today are convicted criminals who have been found guilty of a range of serious offences. They have no place in our society.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is absolutely galling that, yet again, last-minute legal claims have stopped the removal of 33 people, including those guilty of abhorrent crimes such as murder and child sex offences.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis is why our Nationality and Borders Bill will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/03\/14\/boris-govt-claims-new-law-will-stop-lawyers-blocking-deportations-meritless-judicial-reviews\/\">deliver changes to the law<\/a> to make it easier to remove foreign criminals and prevent them from gaming the broken system.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, Priti Patel\u2019s office had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2020\/08\/28\/uk-activist-lawyers-block-deportation-of-every-single-migrant-planned-deportation-flight\/\">reportedly<\/a> had complained that&nbsp;\u201cactivist lawyers\u201d&nbsp;were taking advantage of the European human rights law embedded in British legislation to&nbsp;bring about last-minute appeals to stop deportations of criminal migrants, illegal aliens, and failed asylum seekers.<\/p>\n<p>British justice also has to contend with activist judges, when in February of this year, an immigration judge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/02\/14\/british-judge-blocks-deportation-of-somali-double-rapist\/\">blocked<\/a> the second attempt to deport a Somali double rapist \u2014&nbsp;deemed to pose a \u201chigh risk of serious harm\u201d to the public \u2014 because he would not get proper mental healthcare in Africa, and that because of his mental illness he might be stigmatised by his community.<\/p>\n<p>The Home Office said that the number of appeals against deportation that evoked the Modern Slavery Act \u2014 including criminal migrants claiming they risk becoming victims of slavery if they are returned home \u2014 had quadrupled since 2018.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"7.05\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Failed Asylum Seekers May Be Allowed to Stay After Court Sides with One Claiming to Be Modern Slave <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LGntbzwkRi\">https:\/\/t.co\/LGntbzwkRi<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1448338241514524673?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 13, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A deportation flight to Jamaica left with just four ejected people on board after 33 had lodged last-minute appeals, the Home Office has admitted.
