Therefore I recommend that the leaders of Poland, Lithuania and the other headless people think before speaking. We should not stop at anything to defend our sovereignty and independence,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Europe is already facing soaring gas prices ahead of the winter months, having the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/cusp-europes-winter-season-gas-storage-hits-10-yr-low-2021-09-22\/\"> lowest gas inventories in at least a decade<\/a> and continues to struggle to fill storage as Asian buyers are purchasing more, constraining supply and superheating prices.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"6.8198757763975\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Captives of Russia: European Energy Prices Soar as Putin Holds Back Gas Supplies <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/HPddwWFyil\">https:\/\/t.co\/HPddwWFyil<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1457799836259033091?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 8, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As European countries face a dwindling supply of gas, they may be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloombergquint.com\/onweb\/eu-gas-market-may-tap-deep-stocks-to-escape-crisis-woodmac-says\">forced<\/a> to tap into \u201ccushion\u201d gas held in storage facilities, a type of gas used to maintain pressure in storage facilities and not usually withdrawn, according to consultants Wood Mackenzie.<\/p>\n<p>The firm added that if Europe is struck by a cold winter, the supply of gas could be gone completely by March of next year.<\/p>\n<p>Supplies from Russia could be a remedy to the shortages, but a large amount of Russian gas passes through the&nbsp;Yamal\u2013Europe natural gas pipeline, which travels through Belarus on its way to the EU. The Yamal pipeline carries <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/business\/2021\/nov\/11\/belarus-threats-yamal-europe-pipeline-gas-prices\">around a fifth<\/a> of all gas from Russia to Europe, but like all Russian gas it depends on goodwill from Moscow and the other countries \u2014 like Belarus \u2014 it passes through to actually deliver.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, Russian President Vladimir Putin, a close ally of President Lukashenko, had promised to increase gas supplies to Europe but the increase <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/11\/08\/european-energy-prices-soar-as-putin-holds-back-gas-supplies\/\">did not come<\/a>&nbsp;and as a result, prices for gas in Europe again jumped.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"6.7358490566038\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">EU Official Demands More Sanctions Against Belarus as Some Warn of Escalation <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/iGSPg2q8y4\">https:\/\/t.co\/iGSPg2q8y4<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1458397524864102406?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 10, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Some countries, such as the Netherlands, saw seen gas prices jump as much as 9.7 per cent on Monday as investors and analysts eyed the lack of gas and the fact Russian suppliers weren\u2019t booking any extra transport capacity in the coming days. The increases have had a knock-on effect on the prices of other goods and services, including food.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, the European Union statistics agency Eurostat noted that higher oil and gas prices had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/news\/energy-prices-drive-europe-inflation-to-highest-since-2008\/\">pushed annual inflation<\/a> among countries that use the euro currency to their highest level in over a decade.<\/p>\n<p>Lukashenko\u2019s threats to cut off gas have likewise <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/business\/2021\/nov\/11\/belarus-threats-yamal-europe-pipeline-gas-prices\">been used by President Putin<\/a> in the past, such as in 2009 when Russia cut off gas supplies to Ukraine.
