He recently shared his story with WGNO, which aired on November 11.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>While Brian was at the beach, he heard a commotion coming from the water. Once he looked to see what was happening, he realized two people were drowning.<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI saw them like wailing their arms, screaming as loud as they could \u2014 kind of like bobbing up and down a little bit,\u201d he told WGNO.&nbsp; \u201cSo I grabbed the boogie board that I was on, swam out there, put this girl on it, went back out with another boogie board, and put some other guy on it that was laying on his back.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>When a WGNO reporter asked Bryce what it means to be a hero, the 17-year-old responded by saying, \u201c<\/span><span>It means just doing the greater good for the community.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p><span>For his act of bravery, Bryce received the Boy Scout National Heroism Award, according to WGNO.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Bryce\u2019s mother<\/span><span>&nbsp;Bronwyn Corcoran happens to be her son\u2019s scoutmaster and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wwltv.com\/article\/life\/new-orleans-area-eagle-scout-to-be-honored-for-saving-2-at-pensacola-beach\/289-8ef91b16-73dd-463f-bd78-d30eddc36d5f\">told<\/a> WWLTV how proud she is of Bryce.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI\u2019m very very proud of him, and I was even more proud when I saw him in action saving those people\u2019s lives,\u201d she stated.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI truly believe in the program,\u201d she went on to add. \u201cIt teaches the boys and girls so many life skills. As well as teaching them to find their path in life and where their talents are.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Heroism Award is <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.scoutingmagazine.org\/2018\/08\/29\/bsa-reinstates-heroism-award-one-of-three-national-level-lifesaving-awards\/\">given<\/a> to scouts<\/span><span>&nbsp;\u201cwho demonstrate \u2018heroism and skill in saving or attempting to save a life at&nbsp;<em>minimal<\/em>&nbsp;personal risk,&#8217;\u201d according to <em>Scouting Magazine.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 17-year-old Eagle Scout rescued two people who were drowning at the beach this past summer and recounted his story in a recent interview.
