(Photo by Alex Brandon-Pool\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 6:36 PM PT \u2013 Thursday, November 11, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>The Biden administration announced its expanding benefits for U.S. veterans who have been exposed to \u201ccontainments and environmental hazards\u201d during their service overseas.<\/p>\n<p>During a speech on Thursday, Joe Biden said his administration plans on improving their understanding of the health effects of veterans exposed to toxic environments during their service overseas. He assured the measures would include finding any links between toxic burn pits and developing lung cancer, as well as other rare respiratory ailments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want you to know that our administration is going to meet the sacred obligation that we owe you,\u201d Biden stated. \u201cWe\u2019re going to work with Congress, Republicans and Democrats together to make sure our veterans receive the world class benefits that they\u2019ve earned and meet the sacred specific care, specific needs that they each individually need.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the White House, the Veterans Administration will now \u201ccreate presumptions of exposure when the evidence of an environmental exposure and the associated health risks are strong in the aggregate but hard to prove on an individual basis.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Biden administration is moving to make it easier for Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans who were exposed to toxic air from environmental hazards, such as burn pits, to qualify for health care and assistance from the VA.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nickschifrin?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@nickschifrin<\/a> reports. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/KS5DIvofpZ\">https:\/\/t.co\/KS5DIvofpZ<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/dghkFvD8wn\">pic.twitter.com\/dghkFvD8wn<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 PBS NewsHour (@NewsHour) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NewsHour\/status\/1458942351108448256?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 11, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Biden said he suspects his late son Beau\u2019s exposure to burn pits while serving in Iraq may have had a part in his death. \u201cBecause of his exposure to burn pits, in my view, I can\u2019t prove it yet, he came back with stage four glioblastoma,\u201d Biden mentioned back in 2019. \u201cEighteen months he lived, knowing he was going to die.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden said \u201canybody who was anywhere near those burn pits, that\u2019s all they have to show and they get covered, they get all their health care covered.\u201d Although veterans express there\u2019s still much to be done, many said Biden\u2019s move is a great first step.<\/p>\n<h4>MORE NEWS: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/fla-gov-desantis-says-he-will-send-migrants-to-del\/\">Fla.
